Michelle has recently relocated from the UK where she has had over 20 years’ experience in sports development, specialising in equestrian pathways and programs. Her extensive career includes key roles at British Eventing and British Showjumping, complemented by her qualifications as Head of PE working in school sport. Michelle brings expertise across a wide range of areas and has been involved in Equestrian Sport from a young age as a competitor, volunteer, event organiser, FEI Steward and Judge. INFORMATION – COACHES RENEWALAs we prepare for the coaches’ renewal period, we have put together some “Go To” information to help make the process clearer . Please email us for any queries in the lead up to the renewal period. - Make a file - Make a folder that you can file your documents in when you receive them this can make finding them later much easier.
- Name your documents. When you save any documents or images of the documents, please name them appropriately for example, name your First Aid certificate with the expiry date included in the name. Also please make sure any Certificates or screen shots show all required details, including name, certification and any relevant expiry dates .
- Sport Integrity Australia Certificates To download your Certificate, Log in to the Sport Integrity site. Go to your 'Profile', 'Dashboard', 'Download Certificate' and that should give you a page with your name and ‘badges’ on it. Screen shot or download that and save it to your folder.
- Expiry Date reminders Put a date
in your calendar or set a reminder a month or so before your First Aid, WWC/Blue Card and Coach Update is due.
- Coach Update. If you complete a Face-to-Face update, make sure that you receive a certificate or proof of completion. If you do the Online Update, you should receive notification that you have successfully completed it. Also remember that you will need to complete the relevant update every 2 years.
- Coach Educator/SSTA Every 2 years you need to complete the CE Update only and SSTA's need to complete the Coach update only (any additional information will be emailed direct to SSTA's).
- Insurance. It is a currently a requirement of Equestrian Australia that all accredited coaches have insurance cover with $20m limit of liability for Public Liability and Professional Indemnity. If you are not taking the EA Insurance option, you will need to provide a copy of your Certificate of Currency.
Once you have completed your renewal, EA will verify all of your documents, if you are missing anything you will receive an email from coaching@equestrian.org.au. For more detailed information on renewals please click HERE
EA COACH REACCREDITATION REQUIREMENTS 2025-26Compulsory Requirements: - Financial EA Membership: Renew annually through your State Branch via MyEA.
- Coach Update: Attend every 2 years, either online here for $50 or face-to-face – contact State Branches for dates.
- CE Update: Attend every 2 years, either online here for $50 or face-to-face – contact State Branches for dates
- Working with Children Check: Valid check according to your State/Territory.
- Up to Date - First Aid Certificate: Provide the current HLTAID011 First Aid certificate.
- Insurance: Either join EA/Marsh National Insurance Program or provide a Certificate of Currency at the same level of cover if opting to
source own insurance. To ensure you are covered to the required level please see Insurance | Equestrian Australia.
- Annual Update 2025: All Levels, free to complete via Sport Integrity Australia.
EA Concussion Course, if not already completed. This
course is free to complete.
The below are the certificates that you require to be an Accredited Coach and are free to complete, however, please NOTE if you have already completed these courses then you do not have to do them again. - Community Coaching Essential Skills: Complete via the Equestrian Learning Centre.
- Clean Sport 101: For Introductory and Level 1 Coaches, complete via Sport Integrity Australia.
- Anti-doping Fundamentals Certificate: Complete via Sport Integrity Australia.
- EA Concussion Update: Brief update during the renewal process completed with a confirmation tick box at time of renewal through MyEA.
- Safeguarding Children and Young People in Sport Induction via Sport IntegrityAustralia.
EA COACH EDUCATOR ONLINE UPDATEEA will be conducting an online Coach Educator Update for 2025 on the following dates. The 90min session will take CEs through a series of current topics and accredit our CE’s with their required update. Coach Educators will receive an email in the coming days with a link to register. Please NOTE if you are a CE and you attend the Online Coach Educator Update you do not have to then complete a Coaches Update. For all SSTA’s please complete the coaches update only (any relevant updates will be emailed to you direct).

COACHING WEBINARS FROM AUSTRALIAN SPORTS COMMISSIONThe modern approach to coaching is all about putting people at the core, focussing on the participants and their individual needs, aspirations and motivations to create environments that are positive, engaging and enjoyable. During 6 webinars hosted by the Australian Sports Commission, a range of guests will share their experiences and knowledge of what the modern approach to coaching means to them and how they apply the approach in a variety of contexts. The webinars are for anyone out in the coaching environment,
