The Recovery Team sends our best festive wishes for a happy and safe Christmas holiday. Thank you for your support and understanding throughout the year as we work to repair and improve the roading network. There will be no works on site from 12pm Friday 19 December until Monday 12 January 2026. This newsletter will resume on Thursday 8 January 2025. All work is subject to weather and other unforeseen circumstances. In the event of unsuitable conditions, work will be rescheduled to the next suitable workday. With the exception of Northbank Road, there will be no construction closures across the Marlborough Roads Recovery sites earlier than Monday 9 February 2026 (after Waitangi weekend). Road closure updates |

Please refer to each area's section for information on existing road closures on Kenepuru Road, Titirangi Road, and Archers Road. During all planned road closures, emergency services will always be accommodated. --------------------------------------------------- Northbank Road - 17km from the start of the road Works to repair a slip at approximately 17km from the start of Northbank Road will resume at 7am on Monday 12 January 2026 under stop/go traffic management with delays of up to 30 minutes. From Tuesday 13 January until Friday 20 February construction closures will be in place on:
For the midday opening, vehicles must at the closure no later than 12.30pm. The closures are required to safely excavate the slip and manage rockfall, on this narrow section of the road. Outside of these times stop/go trafffic management will be in place with delays of up to 5 minutes. --------------------------------------------------- Kenepuru construction closures in 2026 From Monday 9 February until 12pm on Friday 24 April there will be construction closures in the Kenepuru on the below times and days:
Outside of these times stop/go traffic management will be in place with delays of up to 15 minutes. *Vehicles must be at their nearest closure point at 3pm to be allowed through this opening time. During the opening times, traffic management will ensure vehicles do not get stuck between closure points. French Pass |

On Croisilles Road, crews have completed sealing on three adjacent sites approximately 2.5km before the Hope Drive/Wharf Road intersection. At a fourth site on Croisilles Road, approximately 4.2km before the Hope Drive/Wharf Road intersection, crews are continuing the drilling and grouting of permanent anchors to stabilise the road. From 7am until 12pm on Friday 19 December, there will be up to 30-minute traffic delays. This site will be secured over the Christmas break and crews will return to continue work on Monday 12 January, under stop/go traffic management with up to 15-minute delays. --------------------------------------------------- On Croisilles-French Pass Road at approximately 2km past Okiwi Bay, crews have poured the concrete and have prepared the site for two way traffic. Pavement preparation works will commence on Monday 12 January. Crews are completing minor drainage repairs approximately 2.2km past Okiwi Bay. Pavement stablisation works will commence on Monday 12 January. Both sites on Croisilles-French Pass Road are under stop/go traffic management with delays of up to 15 mintues. ---------------------------------------------------

Kenepuru |

Work continues at multiple sites on Kenepuru Road between Linkwater and the Heads. On Moetapu Bay Road, approximately 1.3km from the start of the road, slip excavation is progressing under traffic light management from 8am to 12pm on Friday 19 December. Work will resume on Monday 12 January, when the crew will replace three culverts at this site. At four adjacent sites approximately 3km before the Mahau Road turn-off, progress is continuing on retaining walls, culvert installation and pavement construction. A construction closure incorporating these work sites is in place on Kenepuru Road from property number 955 to the Mahau Road intersection from 8am to 12pm on Friday 19 December 2025. These sites will then be secured over the Christmas break and crews will resume works on Monday 12 January to complete the pavements, and remaining drainage repairs. On Kenepuru Road, between the Mahau Road intersection and Te Mahia Bay. A retaining wall, culvert installation, and road retreat has been completed. Works will resume on this site in late January to install another culvert, and construct the pavements. On Kenepuru Road, near Portage Bay, approximately 1.5km prior to Portage Resort, crews have finished for 2025, and will resume work on Monday 12 January to continue excavation, gully backfill, and drainage installation. --------------------------------------------------- Te Mahia Road has been sealed and crews have disestablished from the site. --------------------------------------------------- On Torea Road crews have disestablished from site and will resume work on Monday 12 January to continue the retreat. --------------------------------------------------- Minor works are being completed on Titirangi Road under residents' access only until 12pm on Friday 19 December. --------------------------------------------------- At the Waitaria Bay jetty the existing gravel boat ramp is currently closed to all users. The jetty will be fully decked and the floating pontoon connected by 12pm on Friday 19 December to allow public access over the Christmas period. Work to install new handrails, kerbing and ladders will resume in mid-January. Construction signage will remain up, please be mindful of all notices in place. --------------------------------------------------- All works recommencing in January 2026 will be under stop/go traffic management with delays of up to 15 minutes. |

|
Crews continue work at approximately 17km from the start of Northbank Road. From 7am to 12pm on Friday 19 December, this site is under stop/go traffic management with delays of up to 30 minutes. Outside of work times, the site will continue to operate under traffic lights with approximately 3-minute delays. If the road is deemed unsafe at any time, the road will be closed and an update sent via Antenno. The crew will disestablish from this site at 12pm on Friday 19 December. Unattended traffic lights with minor delays will remain in place during this time. --------------------------------------------------- Construction will resume on Monday 12 January 2026 under stop/go traffic management with delays of up to 30 minutes. Work is progressing on Port Underwood Road, approximately 1.5km past McCormicks Road when travelling East for the construction of a retaining wall. This week crews have backfilled and reinstated the pavement, the site is now open to two lanes. On Monday 12 January crews will resume work and complete the road sealing. |

On Mahakipawa Hill Road, approximately 4.2km from Havelock crews have reinstated the pavement, installed a one metre culvert and sealed the road. Work will resume at this site on Monday 12 January to install a second culvert under stop/go traffic management with delays of up to 15 minutes.

Kenepuru Road is open to the public, with overweight and overlength vehicle restrictions in place. Reduced speed limit signage and temporary traffic lights are in place at Portage Heights and approximately 500m beyond Nikau Cove (when travelling from Portage). Both sites have a 30km temporary speed limit in place. Please expect minor delays and follow all traffic management signage. Vehicle restrictions remain on Kenepuru Road from Linkwater to the Heads as follows: Vehicle RestrictionsVehicles up to 12.6m in length, and 6 tonne in weight can travel on Kenepuru Road and side roads. To apply for a permit for an over dimension vehicle to travel on Kenepuru Road, email recovery@marlboroughroads.com or call 0800 213 213. Other recovery roadsPlease be aware that on all roads, works may be in progress and/or traffic management in place. Please expect delays and follow all signage and traffic management. Heavy rain may lead to roads being closed at short notice. Regardless of the status of the road, please drive to the conditions.
