IMPORTANT: Staff PPE across NSW Calvary Retirement Communities

Date: 1 December 2021

To: All NSW CRC Staff

From:  Bryan McLoughlin, Regional CEO - NSW/QLD

Dear Colleagues,

Thank you for your ongoing commitment and care of our residents. We are writing to inform you that as a result of lower levels of community transmission of COVID-19 across most of NSW, we have reviewed the current requirements for PPE for staff working across our NSW homes.

What do staff need to know?

  • Effective immediately staff are now permitted to wear a surgical mask and face shield/eye protection whilst at work in all areas of the home.
  • Staff are reminded that for all NSW locations, there is still a risk of community transmission, so the compliance of wearing this mask is vital in protecting both yourself and our residents.
  • As you would be aware the situation changes rapidly with community transmission and new variants. We will continue to monitor the situation very closely, and will revert back to the use of N95 masks should the risk increase.

A reminder that staff, contractors or visitors may not enter the facility if they:

  • have been to any close or casual contact locations of high concern;
  • have COVID-19 symptoms - fever (37.5°C or higher) or symptoms of COVID-19;
  • are a close contact of a person with confirmed COVID-19 and are within their self-isolation period;
  • live in a household with a person who is currently self-isolating; and/or
  • are waiting for a COVID-19 test result.

Please don’t hesitate to speak to your manager should you have any questions. Calvary’s COVID-19 staff information page is also updated regularly.

Thank you for your continued understanding and cooperation, and for your assistance in keeping our residents, their families and each other safe.

Regards,

Bryan McLoughlin

Regional CEO - NSW/QLD
