In true Town vs Country tradition players of various clubs from each region were on display with Town having representatives from 10 different clubs (Avondale, Bottle Lake, Clearwater, Coringa, Templeton, Waimairi Beach, Russley, Christchurch, Harewood, and Waitikiri) with Country having 7 clubs represented (Amberley, Amuri, Pegasus, Hororata, Weedons, and Kaiapoi.) With plenty of playing quality across both teams the fixture, which acts as one of the trial events for the Canterbury representative season, was sure to be a tight and impressive occasion across both the Senior and Masters categories. ![]() 2022 Women's Home Links and National Teams Championship Results of the 2022 Women's Home Links and National Teams Championship competitions have been finalised and the full results are below for both competitions. ![]() Cheviot - Canterbury North Women's Interclub ChampionsThe Final round of Canterbury North Women's Interclub was played at Scargill Golf course on Monday in sunny conditions, and after recent rain the course still quite wet underfoot in some areas. Playing at Le Golf National for their fourth and final round at the World Amateur Teams Championship (WATC), the Kiwi team of Sam Jones (Manaia), James Hydes (Gulf Harbour), and Kazuma Kobori (Rangiora) shot a combined team score of even to move three places up the leaderboard to finish their tournament. Kobori and Jones recorded the counting scores of one under 70 and one over72. Hydes shot a three over 74. Kobori anchored the Kiwis at the back for the fourth time and produced a very clean scorecard to finish his tournament. He got off a quick start, making a birdie on 11 to get into red figures early. He bogeyed the 17th to turn in even. The Cantabrian made eight pars in a row on his back nine but finished the tournament in style, making a birdie on the ninth. He finished with rounds of 73, 72, 76, and 70 to finish five over in equal 76th. Italy won the 32nd Eisenhower Trophy by one at 31-under-par. Overnight leaders Sweden finished in second, with the US rounding out the podium in third. ![]() ![]() ![]() Canterbury's Cooper Moore wins U16 NZ Age Group Title Clearwater’s Cooper Moore was dominant all week during the recent NZ Age Group Tournament at Pukekohe Golf Club but needed to hold his nerve up the 18th in his final round to capture the under 16 boy’s title. Moore shot 65 and 70 to be seven-under and lead by two heading into the final round at seven under. He opened with even par in his opening nine to retain his two-shot buffer. However, the back nine is where things got interesting. Moore made five pars and a birdie to start his back nine, increasing his lead to four with three holes to play. However, a double at 16 and a bogey at 17 meant he stood on the last with a one-shot lead. He hit a clutch approach to 15 feet to set up a birdie, which he rolled in to seal the title. “This feels awesome. I’ve been playing really well recently, and I played this week with a lot of confidence. I had a great start to the tournament, and I managed to carry it on for the remaining couple of days. “I was a bit nervous standing over the final putt, but I was still feeling really confident. My putting was really good the whole day, and the whole week really. I was quietly confident that I could hole it.” “It’s great to win the national title. I came second at the South Island under 16’s, so I really pushed myself to win up here. I’m really happy.” Futures is about enriching the lives of young people through golf by creating experiences that inspire a lifelong love of golf!
