Coronavirus (COVID-19) | Update for Residents and Families

Dear Resident and Family Members

COVID-19 Update for Residents and Families of Calvary Brighton-Le-Sands

I am writing to clarify the current visiting and access arrangements for Calvary Brighton-Le-Sands.

Our home is experiencing a COVID-19 outbreak amongst residents and is currently in lockdown. Special restrictions and requirements have been put in place to help limit transmission of COVID-19 and for the safety of our residents and staff.

You can assist us by following these arrangements, and by making other friends and family members aware also.

Important information for visitors

Visits with residents are currently permitted, although visitation limits apply for Preston House (please see below).

Special outbreak conditions apply and additional requirements are in place to reduce transmission and to help keep our residents, their visitors and our staff as safe as possible. These are:

  • Visitor access to the home is via reception ONLY. Your access via other entrances has been restricted. Please call staff (02 8922 6000) for carpark access if required.
  • Only one (1) fully vaccinated visitor per resident is permitted entry to the home.
  • Visitors will be required to complete screening requirements prior to entry and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) whilst visiting. This will include face shields and masks. Calvary will provide the required PPE and staff will assist you as needed.
  • Visitors will be required to have a rapid antigen test (RAT) on arrival and before entering the home. This takes time, and we ask for your patience as we manage this important screening process. Please remember to social distance while you are waiting.
  • Visiting hours are from 11.00am – 6.00pm daily, with last entry to the building permitted at 4.30pm. This is to ensure all screening processes can be completed with our day staff.
  • Visitors must continue to maintain social distancing and hand hygiene requirements whilst visiting.
  • Visitation exceptions may be made for residents receiving end of life care, residents who may be experiencing distress, or where a special care and support role is provided. Please speak with the home manager to discuss arrangements.

Arrangements for Preston House

The outbreak is at present contained to Preston House, and specific arrangements are in place there.

All Preston House residents are currently isolating and being cared for in their rooms, and visiting is limited. This is on the advice of the Public Health Unit and is due to the ongoing transmission within the home.

Visits will be allowed:

  • On compassionate grounds for people receiving end-of-life care
  • For residents who have tested negative for COVID-19
  • For residents who initially tested positive but have now been medically cleared.

All of these visits are BY APPOINTMENT ONLY and can be arranged by contacting the home manager on 02 8922 6000. Screening requirements, PPE and rapid antigen tests also apply.

Video calls and other contact

You can also book a video call with your loved one. Please contact the home to arrange one, or if you have any concerns. Care packages for your loved ones may also be left with security. Please label them clearly.

We will continue to liaise closely with Public Health Unit officials, who will make the decision about whether and when it is safe to remove the current restrictions.

Thank you for your continued understanding and patience at this time.

Sincerely,

Amanda Bennett, General Manager Aged Care
