SH10 Oromāhoe rebuild complete and road now open

Work to rebuild a key section of SH10 at Oromāhoe has now been completed ahead of schedule, with the road reopening to traffic on Thursday 29 January.

The project involved removing the old pavement layers and rebuilding the road from the ground up to improve its strength, resilience and long term safety. To keep the programme moving despite periods of rain, crews continued working through Northland/Auckland Anniversary Weekend. The daytime full closure and short detour helped maintain good progress.

This approach meant the team could rebuild the deep pavement layers efficiently and reopen the road before school starts and ahead of Waitangi weekend, reducing disruption at a busy time on the network.

Crews also made the most of the closure by completing sealing and routine maintenance within the work area, helping to minimise future disruptions.

The road is now fully open. We appreciate the patience of residents, businesses and all road users while this essential work was carried out.
