OUR PEOPLE
Board Retreat at Equitas in LA

Dear Friends and Partners,

We’re thrilled to report on how we're using our $20MM credit enhancement award from the US Department of Education to empower charter schools across the country. This funding is helping us provide the financial support schools need to grow and create lasting educational opportunities.

Our high school fall internship program with Lighthouse Community Public Schools is in full swing, offering students an opportunity to learn more about the world of real estate development. We also celebrated two exciting ribbon cuttings this month: the opening of Lodestar’s new athletic field in Oakland and the grand opening of Voices Morgan Hill’s brand new campus.

Finally, our Board came together at Equitas Academy for a retreat focused on shaping the future of our organization and furthering our mission to expand educational opportunities.

Thanks for staying connected with us! As always, please continue to follow us on LinkedIn.

Warmly,
John Sun

Empowering Charter Schools Through Credit Enhancement

PCSD is proud to have already put our $20M credit enhancement award from the U.S. Department of Education to work, making facility financing more accessible for charter schools!

By providing debt service reserves, we’ve helped key partners secure the financing they need:
- RYSS STEM Academy Pasadena (TX): Supporting the facility project by reducing lender risk.
- CWC West Valley (CA): Helping Citizens of the World Los Angeles access affordable financing despite lender concentration limits.
- UP Excellence Academy (TX): Ensuring a newly authorized school could open on time, even without a track record.

With this award, we’re unlocking doors for more schools, ensuring that students in under-resourced communities have access to high-quality educational spaces.

Fall Internship Begins

We are thrilled to be partnering again with Lighthouse Community Public Schools on our high school fall internship program. We have three amazing interns who have joined us for this 9-week program.

Our internship focuses on connecting them with our partners and demonstrating our collaborative approach to real estate development. Through blog writing and a final presentation, among others, they'll gain valuable insights into how we create facilities that support educational equity.

SCHOOL HIGHLIGHTS

VOICES Morgan Hill Grand Opening

We were thrilled to join the community for the grand opening of the new campus for Voices College-Bound Language Academies in Morgan Hill! This milestone has been many years in the making, and it was incredible to hear from government leaders, school board members, school leaders, parents, and students about the positive impact the school is having on their community.

It’s a joy to be part of such a momentous occasion. Thank you to everyone who helped make this campus a reality, including Charter School Growth Fund, ExED, Low Income Investment Fund (LIIF), and Sobrato Philanthropies. Here’s to many more years of success and growth for Voices Morgan Hill!

PCSD Board Meets at Equitas in Los Angeles

For the first time since 2018, the PCSD Board gathered in person for an incredible retreat! We kicked things off with a dinner to reconnect, followed by our meeting at Equitas Academy Charter Schools 5 & 6.

We had the privilege of touring the campus with Equitas CEO Sofia Roditti and PCSD Project Director Joe Wilson, who shared the impressive details of this complex project. It was inspiring to see firsthand the impact of our work in creating beautiful spaces where students can thrive.
