Coronavirus (COVID-19) | Update for Residents and Families

Dear Resident and Family Members

Calvary Brighton-le-Sands set to re-open from tomorrow

Following advice from the Public Health Unit today, we are very pleased to let you know that the outbreak at Calvary Brighton-le-Sands has been declared over. As such, the home will re-open to a limited number of visitors from 24 January 2022, subject to guidelines below.

Restrictions on other residents’ movements about the home have now been lifted. The small number of COVID-19 positive residents still at Brighton-le-Sands remain in isolation and continued to be cared for in their rooms until medically cleared.

Guidelines for visitors

• In line with Calvary’s recent national visitor update of 29 December 2021, and due to the continuing heightened risk of infection, one nominated visitor only per resident will be permitted. This will be in place until further notice.
• Each family should nominate the visitor and notify the home manager. The visitor is strongly encouraged to have obtained a booster vaccine if they are eligible.
• Visitor entry to the home is between 11.00am and 6.00pm.
• We kindly ask that visitors limit their visit to one (1) hour.
• The visit must take place in the resident’s room.
• The nominated visitor is required to complete screening requirements before being permitted entry to the home.
• Visitation exceptions may be made for residents receiving end of life care, or for compassionate visits. Please speak with the home manager.

As a precaution to keeping residents safe, designated visitors in the near future will be required to have a rapid antigen test (RAT test) before entering the home. This screening is not yet in place.

What happens now?

Our staff will continue to closely monitor all residents for symptoms of COVID-19.

Thank you to our residents for your cooperation during this recent outbreak. To our families, we are grateful that you continue to work with us so generously to ensure the safety of your loved ones in our care, and look forward to receiving visitors back into the home.

Sincerely,

Amanda Bennett, General Manager Aged Care
