Extra night of works - Friday

Kia ora,

Thank you so much for your patience while we work at night on improving the intersections on Walnut Avenue.

Even with the heavy rain last week, we are doing well with our programme. We have decided to work this Friday night, 18 February, in order to try and complete the current paving works on West Street (SH1), which means we shouldn't have to work as many nights next week or the week after.

As always, our aim is to do the most disruptive work as quickly as we can.

Why do we sometimes work at night?
We are undertaking these night works to increase safety for the work crews and to minimise the disruption along and close to the state highway.

When and where?
We will be working along West Street (SH1) in the project vicinity.  If we can get the extra work done this Friday, our current programme of night works should end ahead of the originally expected four week programme. Night shift is between the hours of 7:00pm and 6:00am.

Will traffic be able to get through?
Two-way traffic will be maintained during the day. At night there will be some lane closures but a stop/go traffic management system will be in place to allow traffic to get through. Footpath access around our work site will be maintained. Please be on the lookout for changes in traffic management and follow the signs. A 30kph speed limit will be in place.

What will happen if there is more bad weather and what other works are coming up?
We will continue to keep you updated if there are further changes to our programme. We also want to give you a heads up that we are likely to schedule some night works midway through March for final surfacing.

What type of disruption should neighbours expect?

There will be noise from trucks, machinery and the crew working overnight. You may also notice extra light coming from the street.

Access to properties will be maintained however, we may need to work in front of driveways from time to time. If you need to get into or out of your property, please advise a staff member.

We are very sorry for the disruption that the wet weather has caused to our work programme.
