BOSSI Candidate Workshop Kurri Kurri 2025

BOSSI will be hosting the Annual Candidate Workshop at the Kurri Kurri TAFE Campus on Friday 30 and Saturday 31 May. This year’s event includes presentations covering the examination requirements and competencies, with separate streams for land and mining candidates.

This event is a great opportunity for candidates to hear from a range of industry professionals, including those who have recently been through the registration process, and to network with other candidates.

Presenters and invited guests will lead sessions with candidates and their mentors on Friday afternoon and on Saturday morning, candidates will have the opportunity to review and discuss past projects. BOSSI highly recommends that all candidates and mentors attend the event prior to undertaking their first BOSSI examination.

Communications have been provided to all financial candidates and we look forward to receiving your event registrations!

Discipline Summary

Failure to demonstrate the requirements and responsibilities of a mentoring surveyor

Following the March 2024 BOSSI examinations, a candidate surveyor was found to have fabricated information shown on both the plan and in the accompanying report submitted as part of their examination which resulted in disciplinary action.

As outlined in the BOSSI Board Examination Determination the role of the mentoring surveyor is crucial in guiding the candidate surveyor in their preparation for their examinations and preparing the candidate surveyor for their work as a survey professional.

The Board determined that in this instance the mentors actions did not demonstrate the requirements and responsibilities of a mentoring surveyor as expected by the Board or the public. As a result of their actions, the Board has made the following decisions:

  1. The mentor is restricted from being a mentoring surveyor to any candidate that does not work at their office location for a period of 12-months from the time of the Board’s decision.
  2. The mentor must attend a meeting with the Surveyor-General and another Board member.

Further details will be published on the BOSSI website shortly.
