Click here ![]() ![]() IndigiScapes News![]() Help us protect the vulnerable Glossy Black-CockatooThe Glossy Black-Cockatoo is one of the quietest species of cockatoo and most people don’t know that these beautiful birds call the Redlands Coast home. While spotted in various locations across the mainland, it has found havens on North Stradbroke Island (Minjerribah) and the Southern Moreton Bay Islands. After losing large areas of feeding habitat during the bushfires in 2019-2020, the South-eastern Glossy Black-Cockatoo has been listed as vulnerable and is at risk of further population decline. BirdLife, with support from Glossy Black Conservancy, is coordinating the Great Glossy Count on 9 and 10 September 2023 to help secure a brighter future for this gorgeous species. A Great Glossy Count workshop will be held at Redlands IndigiScapes Centre on Saturday 19 August (9am-12pm), to prepare for the Count and help you learn everything you need
to know about Glossies and their habitat.
