As summer draws to an end and we start to plan ahead to the autumn months, we wanted to share with you a few ‘good news’ stories from across the organisation. This includes another new shop and an update on our Volunteer Thank You Days.

Volunteer Thank You Days

Our Volunteer Thank You Days will now take place in Autumn 2026. We’ve made this change to ensure we can host the most meaningful and enjoyable events for all of our incredible volunteers. We're thrilled to share the below dates with you:

• Thursday 17th September 2026 - Norwich City Football Club
• Wednesday 7th October 2026 - Ipswich Town Football Club

We'll also be trialling two smaller informal events in the Cambridge area on Wednesday 30th September 2026 and in Colchester on Wednesday 21st October 2026. Please note, these are just holding dates for now and further information on the events and how to book will be shared nearer the time.

We open shop number 54!

Summer isn’t a time for our retail team to kick back and relax, quite the opposite! Last week saw us open yet another new shop, this time right in the centre of Norwich. The team broke our record for first-day takings, bringing in a whopping £4,850 – in one day alone – magnificent! Click below for a quick film of the morning!

Volunteer Recruitment Champion needed in Suffolk

Calling all retail volunteers in the south!

We’re looking for volunteers who have an interest in recruitment who might have been keen to get out into the community to support shop managers by promoting volunteer roles in their shop and beyond. You’ll receive 1:1 support from the volunteer team who will assist and guide you to get started and recruit new volunteers.

Latest EDI Newsletter

We’re pleased to share our latest EDI newsletter with you. In this edition we take a deep dive into the world’s Indigenous populations and bring awareness to their way of life – a truly insightful read!

We also look ahead to September which will mark World Alzheimer’s Month. This is when people from all corners of the world unite to raise awareness and challenge the stigma that persists around Alzheimer’s disease, as well as all other types of dementia.

A ‘great big thank you’ as a summer of fantastic fundraising events draws to a close!

Summer is one of the busiest periods in our fundraisers’ calendars, supported by our loyal fundraising and event volunteers. We wanted to share the success of their relentless time and efforts over the last few months.

• Norwich Bubble Rush, Norfolk Showground – 1,600 ‘Bubblers’ turned out to enjoy our longest running and much-loved Bubble Rush, raising an astounding £54,000!
• Newmarket Bubble Rush – our second year bringing this popular event to our newest location, 780 eager supporters helped us raise £25,000!
• Piglet, Junior Hog – wet and muddy obstacles continue to triumph this summer, with 1,430 participants helping raise a phenomenal £47,500!

As always, we simply couldn’t run our events without our wonderful volunteers – a massive THANK YOU to all who helped make them a success.

Happy Christmas Ipswich 6 – tickets now on sale

Talking of events, with the help of our amazing Patron, Griff Rhys Jones, we’ve now launched ticket sales for Happy Christmas Ipswich 6!

This year’s show is on Thursday 4th December at the Regent Theatre, Ipswich, with comedian Tim Vine the first act to be announced.

We will be back towards the end of the year with our final update for 2025, but until then, enjoy the rest of your summer!
