This weekly newsletter will keep you informed about what’s happening across the region’s state highways so you can plan ahead. Roadworks over the upcoming long weekendsAll non-essential roadworks will pause over the Nelson Anniversary weekend, from midday today (Friday 30 January) until midnight on Monday 2 February. Also next week, for the Waitangi Day long weekend, contractors will shut down sites from midday, Thursday 5 February until midnight on Sunday 8 February. You may still see some of our crews out on the roads repairing potholes, responding to incidents, or carrying out essential work. SH6 Nelson to GreymouthSH6 Korere Road rebuild work will pause at this site from midday today (Friday 30 January) until Monday 9 February to avoid disrupting holiday traffic over and between the Nelson Anniversary and Waitangi Day weekends. However, a temporary speed restriction will be in place due to the uneven road surface. After the Waitangi Day weekend, work will resume and continue until Friday 20 February. Crews will operate Monday to Friday between 7am and 6pm (although work may be required some weekends). There will be stop/go traffic management and a 30km/h temporary speed limit during work hours. After hours, a temporary speed limit will be in place due to the uneven road surface. Drivers can expect delays of up to 15 minutes. Read our traffic bulletin for more information SH6 Granity Narrows and O'Sullivan's Junction Resilience work to help prevent rockfalls is pausing at these two sites near Murchison over the two holiday weekends and the intervening weekdays. During that time, at Granity Narrows a 50km/h speed limit is in place, while at O’Sullivan’s Junction both lanes are open and normal speed limits apply. From Monday 9 February, crews will resume work at both sites, with stop/go traffic management and 30km/h temporary speed limits 24/7 until the end of May. Plan ahead for delays of up to 15 minutes at each site. |

SH6 Nelson to BlenheimSH6 Mahers Road (upcoming work in February) A 500-metre section of highway about 5km north of Renwick will be rebuilt soon. Crews will begin setting up onsite from Monday 9 February and start work on Monday 16 February. Work will be carried out Mondays to Fridays, from 7am to 6pm. Stop/go traffic management will be in place during work hours, and a 30 km/h temporary speed limit will apply at all times. Drivers should expect delays of up to 10 minutes. This work is scheduled to be completed by Friday 20 March. Read our Traffic Bulletin for more information SH6 between Canvastown and Rai Valley Drainage works will be carried out from Monday 2 until Friday 13 February, between 7am and 6pm under stop/go traffic management. Multiple sites will be completed during this time, with crews moving from one site to the next. Expect delays of up to 10 minutes. Please note, no work will be carried out over the Waitangi Day long weekend. |

SH60 Nelson to Golden BaySH60 Tākaka Hill, Riwaka side Maintenance work will take place at a number of sites over the next several weeks. Crews will be working on Tuesday 3 and Wednesday 4 February, and from Monday 9 to Friday 20 February. Work will run each day from 7am to 5pm. Stop/go traffic management and temporary speed restrictions will be in place, and drivers should allow extra time when travelling through this area. These works are weather-dependent and may be rescheduled at short notice. |
