Faculty of Arts and Humanities welcomes new dean

Brett Buchanan, MA’99, will serve as dean of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, beginning a five-year term on Aug. 15. Currently dean of arts and interim dean of science at Concordia University of Edmonton, he brings a strong commitment to community-building, interdisciplinary research and arts education.

Canada Research Chairs tackle resiliency research

Two Western researchers have been named Canada Research Chairs. Biology professor Alice Boyle will advance research on bird migration and physics and astronomy professor Amir Mirzaei will investigate durable protective coatings designed to resist material degradation.

Western is the first non-European partner in NeurotechEU, an alliance of 10 universities advancing neurotechnology education and research. The new strategic partnership drive impactful research collaborations and student education opportunities.

Nursing programs expand

With the help of new provincial funding, Western is expanding its nurse practitioner master’s program and has launched a new Primary Health Care Registered Nurse Certificate to help nurses strengthen their clinical knowledge and develop primary care expertise.

Road closure – Philip Aziz Avenue
The City of London will begin construction on Philip Aziz Avenue on May 19. The road will be closed from May 25 until July 2027. Drivers are asked to proceed with care and allow extra time when traveling around campus.
