*NEW* DEADLINE TO SUBMIT SUPERVISOR-APPROVED THESIS
The official calendar states that the last day for graduate students to submit their supervisor-approved thesis, in examinable form to the department is March 1, 2023. This deadline has now been changed to APRIL 1, 2023.

Emergency Notification System Test on February 21, 2023
Carleton’s Emergency Notification System (ENS) has been modernized to make it more reliable. A test of the upgraded system will be conducted on Tuesday, Feb. 21 at approximately 1:15 p.m. This test will include three types of notifications: campus computer screen messages, emails sent out to all Carleton University addresses, and a push notification through the new Carleton Mobile app. All alerts will clearly indicate this is a test of the system. Please note campus
computer and Carleton Mobile alerts may include a noise. The Carleton Mobile ENS test will appear as a push notification which can be dismissed. No further action will be required once the test is complete. To ensure you receive ENS alerts on your mobile device, please download the Carleton Mobile app on the Apple App Store or Google Play and ensure you enable notifications under your mobile device settings. Cultural Mediations PhD Candidate Draws National Attention for Research on Inuit Sewing and Beading Technologies
Krista Ulujuk Zawadski was one of three Talent Award finalists in the 2022 SSHRC Impact Awards, a prestigious competition that celebrates outstanding leaders, thinkers and researchers in the social sciences and humanities. Zawadski’s doctoral research focuses on the sewing and beading legacies that are tied to a particular place in northwestern Hudson Bay, Qatiktalik. Building off her previous work on kakpiit (needle cases), as most of her research revolves around
sewing in some way, her current project looks at the technology behind the manufacturing of bird bone, ivory and caribou bone needles among Inuit.

National Student Paper Competition
The Canada School of Public Service has extended the submission deadline for the National Student Paper Competition (NSPC) to Feb. 20, 2023. The NSPC is an annual competition hosted by the Canada School of Public Service (the School) that aims to identify and amplify important policy work from Canadian graduate programs. The competition allows graduate students to connect with senior executives, expand their networks, nurture their leadership skills, and foster employment opportunities with the federal public service. If you have not done so, we ask you kindly to share the NSPC application information with all graduate programs, professors, co-op staff, experiential learning coordinators and students in your organization. We encourage you to follow the School on Twitter and LinkedIn and share relevant NSPC content.

Board of Governors Award for Outstanding Community Achievement
