SH2 Remutaka Hill February closures |

The SH2 Remutaka Hill will close for resurfacing, clearing channels and drains, replacing signs, pest control and other general maintenance for 5 nights from Sunday 15 - Thursday 19 February, 9pm to 4am. Escorted crossings We are able to escort drivers over the hill at certain times during the closures. Bookings can be made online here: Remutaka Hill Closure Escort Booking Form Book in advance by 4pm on Friday for the Sunday 15 February closure, and 4pm the day prior for weeknight closures. Escorted crossings are for light vehicles only, not heavy vehicles. Any issues, please email customer@wta.nzta.govt.nz Reduced escorted crossings this month Due to resurfacing works this month, there are a reduced number of escorted crossings, as follows. It's not possible to accomodate more than two crossings as this can cause delays to the road re-opening the next morning.
Please arrive 15 minutes early at the closure point. You will receive a booking confirmation with the key information prior to your crossing. Please be patient - the crossings will be slow for everyone's safety. Numbers are strictly limited and vehicles turning up without a booking risk being turned away, or having to wait at the closure point for the next opportunity. Access will be available for 'flashing light' emergency services throughout the closure. Road crews can complete a large amount of work safely during these closures, because multiple crews can work across the hill at the same time without disrupting traffic.
