Coronavirus (COVID-19) | Update for Residents and Families

Dear Resident or Family Member,

Important Update for Residents and Families: Further positive COVID-19 cases identified at Calvary The Brelsford

I am writing to inform you that an additional two (2) residents at Calvary The Brelsford have tested positive for COVID-19. This brings the total number of positive residents at The Brelsford to eight (8). No additional staff have returned positive results and the current active cases remain at one (1).

The additional two positive residents reside in the Emerald Unit. As per previous communication, one (1) resides in Pearl unit and five (5) in Sapphire unit.

As a result of this increased transmission throughout the home, Calvary The Brelsford is closed to all visitors.

Please see further detail below regarding resident’s movement within the home:

• Pearl Unit- residents are not confined to their rooms, and may move freely within their unit, based on minimal risk posed by single positive resident
• Sapphire Unit- All residents in isolation.
• Emerald Unit- we are transitioning all residents to isolation within their rooms to mitigate risk of spread.
• Ruby Unit- Ruby unit does not have any active cases, therefore our Memory Support residents are not confined to their rooms, and may move freely within their unit.

Visitor exceptions may be made for end of life visits.  Please speak to your home manager in relation to visitation.

Routine COVID observation screening is currently conducted on all residents daily and will now increase to twice daily as per the recommendation of the Mid North Coast Public Health Unit.

Our staff are in contact with the families of the COVID positive residents and are keeping them informed. Calvary will update you again as soon as any information becomes available.

Please be assured that our staff have prepared for exposures and outbreaks such as this. Our staff are trained in strict infection control procedures and continue to focus all their attention on the individual care needs of residents.

Thank you for you continued understanding and patience at this time.

Sincerely,

Bryan McLoughlin, Regional CEO – NSW & QLD
