Parents newsletter - July 2024

 

It’s July and fall is rapidly approaching! Whether your student is enrolled in summer classes, working hard or travelling the world, it’s time to start thinking about registration for the fall 2024 and winter 2025 terms. Take advantage of Carleton’s academic advisors and Student Registration Assistance (SRA) team for help selecting courses, building a timetable and more.

 

Important Dates and Deadlines

Wednesday, July 3 to Friday, July 5, 2024: Carleton Central opens for registration for new first year undergraduate students based on pre-assigned time-tickets.

Monday, July 8, 2024: Last day for registration and course changing (including auditing) for late summer courses.

Tuesday, July 9 to Friday, July 12, 2024: Carleton Central opens for registration for returning undergraduate students based on pre-assigned time-tickets.

Monday, July 15, 2024: Last day for a full fee adjustment when withdrawing from late summer courses (financial withdrawal).

Monday, August 5, 2024: Civic holiday. University closed.

Fall/Winter 2024-2025 Registration

Registration for fall/winter 2024-2025 will begin on Wednesday, July 3, 2024 for new first year students, and Tuesday, July 9, 2024 for returning students based on pre-assigned time-tickets.

Your student can view the class schedule and registration course planning tool in Carleton Central (access by logging in through Carleton360).

 

Student Registration Assistance Team

Does your student need help registering for courses? The Student Registration Assistance (SRA) team is available to help students build a conflict free timetable, navigate Carleton Central and provide general registration assistance. Your Raven can visit the SRA team at the Registrar’s Office on the third floor of Tory Building or contact the team via phone at 613-520-3500 or email registrar@carleton.ca.

 

Fall 2024 Virtual Internships

Applications are now open for fall 2024 virtual international internships! These internships offer your student a chance to gain degree-related work experience, develop international connections and earn academic credit, all while being remote.

Exploring Different Sections of the Career Services Job Board

The Career Services Job Board is exclusive to the Carleton community and offers an array of job opportunities including full-time, part-time, new grad and co-op. The job board is broken up into sections to help streamline the job search process for students, including featured jobs, an external job board and built-in search functions.

To explore the Career Services Job Board and begin the job search process, your student can visit mySuccess (log in through Carleton360).

 

Peer Assisted Study Sessions is Hiring!

Is your student interested in an on-campus leadership position for fall 2024? They can apply to become a Peer Assisted Study Sessions (PASS) Facilitator. Applications are due Sunday, July 7, 2024.

The Campus Card Office Is Hiring Part-Time Student Staff

The Campus Card Office is hiring part-time student roles for August and September 2024, with the possibility of extension through fall and winter terms. Applications are due by Wednesday, July 10, 2024.

 

Sprott Social Impact Hub

Is your student passionate about non-profit work and experiential learning? They can join the Sprott Social Impact Hub where they can contribute to social innovation projects, enhance their resume and expand their skills. Students from all faculties are welcome!
