Gift supports access to military history resources

A $2-million gift from the estate of Halina and James Russell (Rus) Robinson will give students and scholars access to resources in the emerging fields of military and veterans history.

Research by health sciences students Olivia D'Andrea Brooks and Rubiga Thanganathan shows the value of Western’s community garden and has inspired changes that expand the garden’s impact. 

Reducing HIV risks through mindfulness

Biindigen’s 30 Day Indigenous History Month Challenge 

Celebrate National Indigenous History month by learning and honouring Indigenous histories and culture. Each day features a resource, event or activity to celebrate Indigenous peoples and support journeys of learning and unlearning.

June 3 to 13 
Painted by my hand: Works from the collection of Philip Aziz 

This exhibition features paintings, lithographs and photographs from the personal collection of the late London-based artist Philip Aziz. Curated by visual arts professor Cody Barteet and PhD student Natalie Scola, the exhibit is a testament to Aziz's legacy and his contributions to the art world. Satellite Project Space, 121 Dundas Street, London.

Summer public night at the observatory 

Think you’ve found a space rock? Physics and astronomy professor Paul Wiegert will discuss how to tell them apart at the next Cronyn Observatory public night.  

June 12 (10 a.m. to 2 p.m.) 
Western farmers’ market  

Stop by the Western farmers’ market and support local businesses every Wednesday in the open space in front of McIntosh Gallery. Pick up plants, fresh fruits, veggies, baked goods and meats while enjoying live music.

Traffic and parking during spring convocation 
Spring convocation ceremonies run daily at 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. June 10 to 21. During this time, you may experience more traffic on roads on and around campus. Huron Flats and South Valley lots are designated for parking during convocation for graduates and their guests. On these days, staff are encouraged to park in other areas, where your permit allows.

Volunteers needed: International ACAC conference 
Western will welcome the world to Canada as host of the International Association for College Admission Counseling conference July 7 to 12 and volunteers are being sought to help guests have a great experience on our campus. Hundreds of volunteers have already signed up, but opportunities are still available. Staff and faculty can have their children earn Ontario Secondary School Diploma volunteer hours by joining them on campus as volunteers for these events.
