NZTA Contractors are making good progress on clearing weather damage on SH6 near Mt Michael in the Kawarau Gorge. This location was part of an old project to explore possible hydro dam sites in the area. To help with site investigations, three short tunnels were dug into the hillside. Our contractors have been busy clearing the Mt Michael slip, along with building new drains and channels to control water flow into the site. All these efforts are helping it to dry the slip site out. Thank you for your patience if your journey was delayed by this work.
