Congratulations to our Fall Graduates!
Congratulations to the 613 graduate students who have successfully completed their degrees! Diplomas are available to pick up at Graduate Studies (512 Tory Building) between the hours of 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Diplomas will be held until Nov. 28. Formal presentation of degrees and certificates in the Fall will be made in June 2026. Graduates will be notified by email to their Carleton email address of all the pertinent convocation ceremony details in mid-May. Plan your exchange for 2026/2027 by attending an Exchange Information Session! These sessions will provide an overview of the Exchange Program as well as details on how to complete an application. Topics will include eligibility requirements, funding opportunities, and testimonials from past participants.Registration for Preparing to Teach Certificate is Open
Registration for the Winter 2026 cohort of TLS’s Preparing to Teach (PTT) certificate is now open! Available to upper-year doctoral students and post-doctoral fellows with little or no experience designing and teaching a course of their own. PTT is a 10-week program with weekly readings, activities, and in-person class meetings. The Winter 2026 cohort meets on Wednesdays from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., starting on Jan. 14 and ending on March 25.

Campus to Community is an experiential learning opportunity where Carleton students travel to different organizations across the Ottawa area and assist with various tasks and learn about social issues faced by clients accessing their services.GIS Day Events at the Library

Carleton Health Services is offering a flu and COVID-19 Vaccination Clinic on Nov. 18 from 9 a.m. to noon in CTTC 4100. Appointments can be booked online. Complete the consent forms in the health questionnaire sent at booking. Vaccine appointments are also offered at community clinics and pharmacies with or without an Ontario health card.Mini-Course Program: Instructor Proposal Application
The Mini-Courses Program (MCP) provides students from grades eight to 11 a one-week enriched learning experience at Carleton. The Undergraduate Recruitment Office is looking for enthusiastic graduate students who are interested in teaching a course during the first week of May. Carleton Scientist Receives Synergy Award for InnovationCarleton University’s Scientist-in-Residence, Richard Ernst, has been awarded the 2025 Synergy Award for Innovation by the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC), in recognition of his leadership in a long-standing industry-academia research partnership that is accelerating the discovery of critical minerals through geological research. Ernst, a world-leading geological field researcher in the Department of Earth Sciences, leads the Carleton University-Resource Exploration Consortium, a 19-year (2010–2029) partnership involving Carleton researchers, 15 major exploration companies and over 150 scientific collaborators from 25 countries.

Canada Research Chair Awarded Funding to Advance Low-Carbon TechnologiesOne of Carleton University’s recently renewed Canada Research Chairs (CRC), Reza Kholghy, was awarded new funding in support of his contributions to achieving Canada’s goal of net-zero emissions by 2050. Kholghy, a Canada Research
Chair in Industrial Decarbonization in the Faculty of Engineering and Design, is receiving $89,000 through the Canada Foundation for Innovation John R. Evans Leaders Fund to support his project: System for Thermogravimetric Analysis of Powders at Extreme Environments.
