Mental Health Supports

We have many services and resources in place to help you understand, manage and improve your mental health and wellness while at university. The best place to start is to check out our Wellness Services Navigator. This anonymous site is designed to help find you available mental health and wellness resources.

Magda Georgescu is a counsellor with Carleton’s Health and Counselling Services who is focused on helping graduate students. To make an appointment with Magda, please call the office at 613-520-6674. Once you call, you will speak with a Patient Care Coordinator who will send you an intake and consent form that needs to be completed before speaking with an Intake Counsellor. This intake session can also take place in person at the clinic, if that is your preference, and then you will be able to meet with Magda.

Another good tool to check out is our Resource Guide. This guide is meant to be flexible and offer support and guidance in tandem with the resources mentioned above.

The Psychology Wellness Centre
Carleton's Psychology Wellness Centre is a virtual centre staffed by psychology graduate students who are trained peer wellness coaches. If you looking for non-urgent assistance with goal-setting, time-management, support to improve wellness goals, and information on other available wellness services at Carleton
please complete the request form here to meet with a peer wellness coach.

    Underhill Graduate Student Colloquium

We are now accepting submissions for Underhill 2024!

For 30 years, graduate students in Carleton’s Department of History have organized an annual colloquium in which master’s and doctoral students from all disciplines are invited to present on any history-related topic. The primary objective of Underhill is to facilitate the original research of graduate students by providing a public forum for the presentation of their work. In addition, the Colloquium is designed to promote dialogue between those in different disciplines and to encourage interaction between faculty and graduate students.

This year’s theme is Echoes: Memory, Narrativity, and Dimensions of Historical Discourse. Just as echoes can be shaped by the contours of a landscape, the dimensions of historical discourse are guided by how both narrative and memory are positioned, remembered, and transmitted. The relationship between history and memory, collective and individual, has opened profitable and often contested avenues for inquiry. In turn narrativity – how stories are told and retold – has unlocked epistemic space for scrutiny, reevaluation, and creation.

See Call For Papers for more information on how to submit an abstract for Underhill 2024.
