Around the BK analogue table

Hello, BK friends & families.

March was a big transition time for BK. We emptied our Altadena studio on the first of March and spent the following two weeks setting up a new space in Eagle Rock. I am forever grateful for our team members who put in extra days of TLC to unbox and organize the new space together. On March 16th, Eunice drove in from O.C., and Kei flew in from Kyoto to join the rest of our LA team, and we opened our Eagle Rock storefront to the BK community. We wanted the space to be a cozy spot for our community to gather, explore, and get inspired by one another. The day was truly magical filled with the community’s deep connection with BK and love for all things analogue. We put together a little video from the day, which you can enjoy here.

Since then, we opened our studio/shop a few times on Sundays. Our beloved analogue table is the same as what we used to have in Altadena, but in the new layout with a high ceiling and more wiggle room around, I see the table becoming more than just a place to add a few self-inked stamps (which is also very much encouraged for everyone visiting:). On a few occasions, a group of friends sat down to open their notebooks and doodle, write, and chat while other quieter solo journalers savored the moment on the other side.

Whenever our guests feel comfortable and safe enough to open their notebooks at our analogue table, I feel a warm sparkle in my heart bubbling up—a small affirmation that the space is meeting our original intention.

Inside of a notebook/sketchbook is such a personal space. With so much going on in the world right now, I feel that we are often experiencing the sense of being on the edge. Being highly sensitive and intuitive myself, I know how tasking it can be for our nervous system to navigate the ups and downs of these days and keep the invisible bubble around us to dampen the impact of the often too-sharp vibrations. I hope this expanded space around the BK analogue table (both literally and metaphorically) will continue to infuse calm oasis energy so all our friends who walk through the BK door can feel a little more relaxed, lighter, and safer in letting their guards down.

If you are in town, I hope you stop by on future Sundays to hang out and add a line or two to your notebook at our analogue table. On most Sundays, we are open between 12 and 5 p.m. (here is the link to our official opening hours schedule). I am looking forward to exchanging ideas and thoughts on all things analogue.
