Save Big During Our First Member Appreciation of 2024

TODAY, Feb. 15-Thursday, Feb. 29, all Weavers Way locations

It's a wonderful time of the year — the two weeks when Co-op members get an extra 5% off their bill at one of our main stores and Weavers Way Next Door or Across the Way and Weavers Way Mercantile. By the by, the five percent is on top of whatever discounts you already get. Also, we're offering a bang-up deal if you join now:  a $30 shopping credit, which basically gives you a free first year of membership. So spread the news and stop by soon! Here's the fine print.

Tressie Souders

Forging a Path for Black Directors

Theresa “Tressie” Souders (1897-1995) was the first African American woman to write, direct and produce a silent feature film, “A Woman’s Error" (1922).  While the script survived, the film, which depicted the race, class and gender issues of African Americans, was lost.  Tressie was a self-taught filmmaker. Her pioneering legacy, replete with non-stereotypical portrayals of African Americans, is kept alive by the Tressie Souders Film Society.
