BB New Zealand Communication Kia ora BB Constitution Review The need for good governance is essential for a organisation, business, charity or country for that matter! We don't need to look far to find examples of good and bad governance. The executive at BB New Zealand have discussed our governance in detail and the need to ensure we have a robust and workable constitution to guide us as a group and the movement as a whole. Todd Harper is leading the charge to review the constitution and get feedback from all Stakeholders. There is a link to the current BB constitution on the button adjacent. The goal is to undertake this review and make recommendations for consideration at this year's AGM in Christchurch. Please read on to hear from Todd... "The advancement of Christ's Kingdom among Boys' and the promotion of habits of Obedience, Reverence, Discipline, Self-Respect and all that tends towards a true, Christian manliness." In His Service Mike Brewer - National Director 0274 967 537BB New Zealand Constitution ReviewAs a national executive, we are committed to ensuring that the governance of our organisation is fit for purpose and supports the overall direction of the movement. Part of this is ensuring we are legally compliant, but also ensuring we support the staff, leaders and volunteers with the tools they need to be successful in what they do. With this in mind, we will be looking to amend our constitution. For those who are not aware, our constitution was last reviewed and amended in 2009. Since then, we have had a number of structural, cultural and strategic changes within our wider movement and organisation. Which you are very much the core centre of. Part of the need for this amendment and reform is a change in the incorporated societies act. Included in this new revised legislation, along with a number of other points include, references to how individuals can become members, a disputes and complaints process among other things. You will find a copy of our current constitution below this message for your reference. We are using this opportunity to ensure our governance structure is fit for purpose. This is where you come in. As a member of the BB New Zealand council (for those who don’t know what the council is, it’s basically all registered leaders in New Zealand, which you are one of), you are ultimately responsible for the guardianship of our organisation, with the biggest factor in this being, the appointment national executive board. As a board we are responsible for driving the direction of the organisation and supporting the staff to do so. Plus, most importantly represent you at the board table. Before we get into the finer detail of the constitution, we need to define how we govern ourselves to not only support the organisation to grow in this modern context, but also to ensure it represents you as council members. To kick this process off, we want your feedback! Among other thing, we would like to hear in particular your thoughts about the following:
This is your opportunity to really impact the future direction and success of our organisation. We would love to hear from each and every single one of you. We will close off submissions for this feedback on the 31st March 2023, 5pm. Please submit by clicking on the link below and fill out the form. If you would like to discuss anything further to provide more context, after submitting the form, please feel free to reach out to Todd Harper, by either emailing: todd.harper@bb.org.nz or phone: 0221669008.
