Please find below the schedule for upcoming motorway night closures for the SH1 Papakura to Drury project for the week commencing Saturday 14 February 2026.

This notice includes a full motorway extended-time closure in both directions between Papakura and Drury Interchanges overnight on Saturday 14 February from 7.30pm to 9.30am the next morning for the demolition of the Bremner Road bridge over SH1 just north of Drury.

Traffic notices provide a brief overview of temporary night closures and road layout changes for the specified period.

Traffic notices | Ngā pānui rori - for Saturday 14 February to Saturday 21 February 2026

All closures are subject to change depending on weather and ground conditions.

Full and/or partial (single lane) road closures have been scheduled for the coming week as follows: 

SH1 Southern Motorway - southbound

  • Saturday 14 February: All southbound motorway lanes will be closed between Papakura Interchange and Drury Interchange from 7.30pm* at night to 9.30am* the next morning. A southbound detour will be in place between the two interchanges along Beach Road and Great South Road.
    *extended closure by special permission.
  • Sunday 15 February: All southbound motorway lanes will be closed between Papakura Interchange and Drury Interchange from 9pm at night to 5am the next morning. A southbound detour will be in place between the two interchanges along Beach Road and Great South Road.
  • Wednesday 18 February - Thursday 19 February: All southbound motorway lanes will be closed between Papakura Interchange and Drury Interchange from 9pm at night to 5am the next morning. A southbound detour will be in place between the two interchanges along Beach Road and Great South Road.

SH1 Southern Motorway - northbound

  • Saturday 14 February: All northbound motorway lanes will be closed between Drury Interchange and Papakura Interchange from 7.30pm* at night to 9.30am* the next morning. A northbound detour will be in place between the two interchanges along Great South Road and Beach Road.
    *extended closure by special permission.
  • Sunday 15 February: All northbound motorway lanes will be closed between Ramarama Interchange* and Papakura Interchange from 9pm at night to 5am the next morning. A northbound detour will be in place between these interchanges along Ararimu Road, Great South Road and Beach Road.
    *That part of the northbound closure between Ramarama Interchange and Drury Interchange is not related to the SH1 Papakura to Drury project – see nzta.govt.nz/asm-closures
  • Wednesday 18 February - Thursday 19 February: All northbound motorway lanes will be closed between Drury Interchange and Papakura Interchange from 9pm at night to 5am the next morning. A northbound detour will be in place between the two interchanges along Great South Road and Beach Road.

SH22/Great South Road

  • Monday 16 February - Tuesday 17 February: All SH22 lanes will be closed underneath the motorway in between the Drury on and off-ramps from 9pm at night to 5am the next morning. The ramps will remain open with only left turn access on and off the motorway. A detour for SH22 eastbound traffic to Papakura Interchange and back will be in place. A detour for SH22 westbound traffic to Ramarama Interchange and back will be in place.
  • Sunday 15 February - Saturday 21 February and for 24/7 until notified otherwise: The right-hand turn lane onto the Drury southbound on-ramp will be closed. 
    Motorists can follow the signposted detour to Drury roundabout and back along Great South Road to turn left onto the southbound on-ramp, or alternatively use Great South Road and Ararimu Road to access SH1 southbound at Ramarama Interchange.

Mercer Street, Drury

  • Sunday 15 February - Thursday 19 February: Mercer Street will be closed at the SH22 / Great South Road intersection from 9pm at night to 5am the next morning. Access will be maintained for residents only.

Bremner Road, Drury

  • Sunday 15 February - Saturday 21 February and for 24/7 until notified otherwise: One lane will be closed between Victoria Street and Tributary Parade. A single lane will remain open for two-way traffic with temporary traffic signals in place. Vehicle and pedestrian access will be maintained to all properties.
  • Sunday 15 February - Saturday 21 February and for 24/7 until notified otherwise: The Bremner Road bridge over SH1 (between 14 Bremner Road and 33 Bremner Road) will be closed. A detour via Firth Street, Great South Road / SH22, and Victoria Street will be in place.

Victoria Street, Drury (northern end between Drury Sports Complex and Bremner Road)

  • Sunday 15 February - Saturday 21 February and for 24/7 until notified otherwiseOne lane will be closed at the Bremner Road intersection. A single lane will remain open for two-way traffic with temporary traffic signals in place. Vehicle and pedestrian access will be maintained to all properties.
