The Big Lunch is the UK's annual opportunity for neighbours and communities to come together for food, fun and friendship. This year's event will take place on 1 & 2 June.

The Big Lunch helps to build friendlier, safer communities where ideas, skills and resources can be shared.

Thomas Wall Trust

The Thomas Wall Trust offers grants of up to £5000 for projects (not general organisational costs) which help improve the communication skills of disadvantaged adults and support NEET people into employment.

The Trust welcomes projects which target those facing multiple deprivation and/or major hurdles to employment (eg: people with physical, mental or learning disabilities; refugees).

Partners for Health 2024

London Catalyst, in collaboration with the Hospital Saturday Fund, is offering grants of £3000 - £15,000 to projects which can demonstrate:

• positive outcomes for people facing significant barriers to health
• a new approach or thoughtful development of service
• partnership between health and community organisations.

Priority is given to charities with an annual income of less than £500,000.

The Wakeham Trust

The Wakeham Trust is a volunteer-run trust which offers grants to micro-scale community projects, and has recently added education to its list of funding priorities.

The Trust aims to help small groups who are working to make a difference for others. Projects which might find it difficult to secure funding from larger organisations are prioritised.

There is no deadline for applications.

easyfundraising

Voluntary organisations in Barnet have recently received a share of £1.6m in easyfundraising.org.uk donations, allowing them to update their facilities, buy new equipment, and improve their services. Through easyfundraising, 8000 online retailers (including Sainsbury’s, eBay, Amazon, M&S, Just Eat and Argos) will donate money to your organisation.

John Lewis Community Matters Scheme

Every three months, each John Lewis and Waitrose store selects three community groups or charities, and customers use tokens to vote for the organisation they'd most like to support.

Each shop has £3000 per quarter to donate, which is shared between the charities according to the proportion of customers' votes they have received.

Charities can receive the support in whichever form suits them best - either products, volunteering time from Partners, or cash.

GLA Community Resilience Toolkit

With funding from the Greater London Authority, Groundwork South (Communities Prepared) and Groundwork London are working together to develop a London community resilience toolkit, designed for use by voluntary organisations, community groups, faith groups and others.

The aim of the toolkit is to help communities better prepare for and handle the impact of extreme weather events and emergencies.

Groundwork are currently running a short survey, to learn what content would be most / least useful, and what barriers might prevent your community using the toolkit.

Whether you are brand new to volunteer management or would like a refresher, come along to a free two-hour session covering all you need to know about volunteer management and best practice when coordinating volunteers.

• skills and qualities of a good volunteer manager

Barnet's Romanian and Eastern European Hub has created an animation video to explain the type of medical healthcare services European nationals can access in the UK after Brexit, based on their EU Settlement Scheme status.
