COVID-19 Update #87 - Hakihea 2021 Rātū, 7 Hakihea 2021COVID-19 Update Pānui no. #87.If you have symptoms of the coronavirus, call the NZ Covid-19 Healthline on 0800 358 5453 COVID-19 Pānui no. 87 Kei aku whakatiketike ki te whenua kei aku whakatamarahi ki te rangi tēnā koutou katoa. As the vaccination rates steadily approach 90%, we can also see a tapering off of covid cases and a reduction in the number of hospitalisations as we settle into the new covid protection framework. As always, we maintain our focus on the health and wellbeing of our mokopuna, kaimahi and whānau. At all light settings of the new framework, Kōhanga Reo can open, and we need to ensure we can bring our mokopuna back to their Kōhanga Reo whānau safely. The health and safety of our mokopuna, kaimahi and most vulnerable must continue to remain our number one priority. E te whānau, your assistance is also important for ensuring that all our Kaimahi feel supported in this challenging environment. If anyone needs any help with understanding the Ministry of Education guidelines or has any questions about what the new framework means for you, please do not hesitate to contact your Tari a rohe or Te Tari Matua. It will take all of us, ki te mahitahi tātou ka taea, kei ā tātou katoa te ara tika. Ministry of Education Updates: Travel across the Auckland boundary for children and staff The Director-General of Health has granted an exemption to allow travel across the Tāmaki boundary for:
This exemption will enable Kaiako, kaimahi and tamariki to return to their Kōhanga Reo prior to the Tāmaki boundary opening on 15 December. There are conditions
attached to this exemption, including that any kaimahi must carry evidence of a negative COVID-19 test administered within seven days of travel. Previously, the MoE have encouraged you to support staff to get vaccinated by providing paid time where they were unable to be vaccinated outside of their normal hours of work. Changes to the Employment Relations Act now mean that an employee is entitled to reasonable paid time-off during their normal working hours to receive a dose of a COVID-19 vaccine. Before taking paid time off, the employee must notify you of the date and time they intend to receive a COVID-19 vaccine and the amount of time they expect to take as paid time off (including any travel time). You can refuse the request if providing the paid time off would unreasonably disrupt
the service’s work or the performance of the employee’s duties.
