Canterbury Golf News 2023 CANTERBURY GOLF AWARDS DINNEROn Friday the 11th of August the annual Canterbury Golf Awards Dinner was held at Christchurch Golf Club. With over a hundred people from the Canterbury Golf community in attendance a great evening was held celebrating not only the previous season's player on-field performances but also importantly the opportunity was taken to recognise those that have given so much to the game locally over many years. Read the full overview below. CANTERBURY GOLF GENERAL MANAGER UPDATE The CGI Executive has made a decision to appoint Blair Minton to the new role of General Manager – Pathways and Performance. Read more below. 82nd CANTERBURY GOLF AGM - 28 SEPTEMBER The 82nd Annual General Meeting of Canterbury Golf Incorporated will be held at the Russley Golf Club on Thursday 28 September 2023 at 7.30pm. Further, at this year's AGM a discussion will be had around the proposed Golf NZ partnership proposal. Following a thorough due diligence process, the CGI Executive has voted to recommend to clubs that, subject to final agreement on detailed terms and conditions, Canterbury Golf Inc sign a Partnership Agreement with Golf NZ to take effect from 1 January 2024. CANTERBURY WOMEN IN GOLF | INTERVIEW VIDEO At the recent Canterbury Golf Awards dinner a video interview showcasing some of our previous Canterbury women representatives was released. The interview discusses their shared memories of playing for Canterbury and hears their views and tips for other girls looking to follow similar journeys. 2023 TOWN VS COUNTRY FIXTURE The annual Town vs Country fixture was played at Amberly Golf Club on the 27th of August. With some initial showers soon passing, the day was played in brisk but fine conditions with the course in good shape and some impressive scoring on display including a course record. ASHBY BERG TROPHY & MCGUIRE HENDON CUP The annual Ashby Bergh Trophy and McGuire Hendon Cup matches were played at Rangiora Golf Course on July 9th. Read more below. HAREWOOD LADIES RUNNER-UP IN NATIONAL TEAMS CHAMPIONSHIP The Final Results have been confirmed for the Women's National Teams Championship, and it was all so close for the Canterbury District Champion Harewood team of Marie Bell, Amy Liu, Kathryn Maloney and Liz Warren finishing runner-up, 1 shot behind National Champions Rangatira who finished 18 under par.
