From the Yackandandah Visitor Information Centre
Hello everyone, Yackandandah has had a gentle shuffle, with some local favourites adjusting their rhythm for the season. Two Sisters Café has announced they won’t be reopening after their winter break. Their wonderful coffee, cakes and meals will be missed and we thank them for all they’ve given the community. Slow Grown Food has expanded operating hours to Fridays and Sundays at their High Street spot. They are sharing the cosy nook with BAM Catering, who are now serving lunches and take-home meals on Tuesdays. Sluga Gallery has settled into winter hours (Friday to Sunday, 10.30am - 4pm) and Songbird Trader has transitioned to an online-only store.
Winter is the perfect time to get out, rug up and support local businesses that keep our town thriving through the cooler months. There are plenty of regular favourites to enjoy each week, from Wednesday night jam sessions at the Star Hotel and daily Happy Hour (Tuesday 5pm – 7pm, Friday 4pm – 6pm and 5pm – 6pm every other day), to picking up fresh seafood from Flippin Fresh every Wednesday between 4pm – 6pm outside the bottom pub. Don't forget that Frankly Food Van is popping up at Sir Isaac Isaac's Park each Thursday evening between 5pm - 7.30pm. Check their socials for the rotating menu each week. Doors 6.30pm for 7pm start To celebrate the winter solstice, SongShed is hosting an evening that is part performance, part workshop and part party. In addition to enjoying the most recent work of SongShed, the audience will be led by Leanne Murphy, the choir and friends, in learning simple songs in two, three, and four part harmony, all beneath the warming light of lanterns. A supper will be served at interval. All singers are welcome, regardless of age and ability. Children under the age of 12 are free when accompanied by a ticketed adult.

Hello Beechworth, Winter is a wonderful time to get out and support local businesses that keep Beechworth buzzing, with plenty of easy ways to enjoy the town throughout the week. Settle in for a relaxed Sunday at the Stanley Pub’s free arvo jam sessions from 2.30pm – 5.30pm, or ease into the weekend with Happy Hour at Tiny from 4pm – 6pm every Friday and Saturday. If you’re looking to warm up and explore, brewery tours are running daily at both Last St Brewery and Bridge Road Brewers, while Mondays are made easy with Curry Night at Bridge Road, serving up fresh Sri Lankan, Indian and Nepalese dishes from 5pm until sold out, whether you’re dining in or grabbing takeaway on the way home. Don't forget that your events help keep Beechworth lively through the cooler months, and the Visitor Information Centre is encouraging businesses to share any winter offers, workshops or happenings with us so we can help spread the word. Regional Events Fund Round 7, Stream 2The Regional Events Fund supports events that bring thousands of visitors to regional Victoria, delivering economic impact, creating jobs, and supporting local business. The Fund backs festivals, culinary, sporting and cultural events that showcase the vibrancy of Victoria’s regions. Private companies, Councils, Visitor Economy Partnerships and not-for-profit organisations are invited to submit applications for events that meet the eligibility criteria and program objectives detailed in the Regional Events Fund Guidelines. Funding of up to $500,000 to grow the economic impact of medium to large-scale events. Stream 2 (Event Growth and Development) Round 7 applications close Tuesday 30 June 2026.
