Janice Weinberg, professor of biostatistics, received the 2025 Mentor of the Year Award by BU’s Graduate Women in Science and Engineering. The annual award recognizes BU faculty in science, technology, engineering, and math for their exemplary contributions to student mentorship.

 

Jonathan Buonocore, assistant professor of environmental health, received the 2025 IGS Sustainability Champion Faculty Award by BU's Institute for Global Sustainability (IGS) for his impact-driven research at the intersection of energy systems, climate, and health. Buonocore, who is also an IGS core faculty member, received the award during the center's annual conference on October 16. 

 

Niouma Semega, PhD student in environmental health, received the 2025 Judges’ Choice Student Poster Award by BU's Institute for Global Sustainability (IGS) for the research poster "Characterizing Indoor Air Pollution from Gas Stoves: Baseline Data from City of Boston's Decarbonization Pilot." Semega received the award during IGS' annual conference on October 16.

 

Abigail Batchelder, associate professor of community health sciences, was named a 2025 Victory Pathbuilder by Victory Programs, a Boston-based nonprofit organization that provides housing, recovery, and other supportive services. The award honors individuals who have contributed to the organization's mission. Batchelder will be honored at Victory Program's 50th anniversary fundraiser on November 6.
