Twin Coast Discovery Highway

In June 2018, the Government announced that the Provincial Growth Fund had committed funding for a package of business cases to investigate a number of improvements to the Twin Coast Discovery Highway.

The Twin Coast Discovery Programme Business Case recommended a range of projects and initiatives to address the following challenges:

  • safety
  • resilience
  • conflict between different users – freight, locals, coaches, cyclists
  • legibility of road and places
  • limited off road cycle facilities
  • stopping places.

Two of the seven business cases are now complete, the Northland Integrated Cycling Implementation Plan and the Wayfinding Implementation Plan.
