Hutt Valley Business Weekly Email Header - Awards 2019

Kia ora ,

One of the things that I really notice as I travel around the Hutt Valley is how busy everyone is. Generally, there are staff shortages across our region, and across NZ, which is definitely impacting workloads, and probably the well-being of people across the region.

A consequence of this is that we make decisions about what not to do and push some important stuff to one side.

I want to encourage you all not to push your participation and entry for the 2degrees Wellington Regional Business Excellence Awards to one side.

Entries are still open and are easy to complete using the online system. For a small investment in time, there are so many benefits.

  • Completing the entry gives you a chance to reflect on your work, your team, and your business. It's a chance to be very proud of what you achieve every day
  • Entering the awards is a chance to talk to your team about your work and the success they help you achieve every day
  • Being nominated as a finalist in the awards is a chance to celebrate your success and use it as a chance to market your business. Marketing your business is important
  • Attending the awards function is a chance to celebrate with your team, or to invite your customers and thank them for their contribution to your success
  • Winning Awards is a chance to be recognised for the success you, your team and your customers have created.

Go on give it a go. Check it out here.

RiverLink Info Session with the Project Director(s) Provides a Useful Chance To Engage and Learn More

RiverLink Info Session with the Project Director(s) Provides a Useful Chance To Engage and Learn More

As the RiverLink project progresses we hosted an information session to help our local business community stay informed about the project. The session was an opportunity to learn more about the project, ask questions and understand the opportunities and challenges that the project will present for local businesses.

We were lucky to have both the current and new Programme Directors, and representatives from Greater Wellington, Hutt City Council and Waka Kotahi on hand to talk about the project.

They were able to provide an update on the project, the Environment Court process, the flood protection goals, the Melling transport improvements and the Hutt City centre revitalisation goals.

Businesses got the chance to answer questions and also engage with the key people following the event. We will host further events through the remainder of 2022 and keep you informed through the Hutt Valley Business Weekly.

You can also visit the RiverLink website for more information.

Progress on RiverLink Consents Welcomed

Progress on RiverLink Consents Welcomed

The Environment Court has issued an interim decision on approving a range of resource consent applications for RiverLink, delivering a high level of confidence in the project.

The Court's interim decision is comprehensive at 186 pages.  It focuses largely on the proposed conditions, especially in relation to noise and vibration, and cycling and walking matters.  It seeks that further work is done on the conditions and that the applicants report back finally to the Court on 30 September.  Thereafter the Court will confirm the conditions.

Cyber Resilience, Risk Remediation and Cyber Insurance Seminar in October

Protecting your business from cyber attacks is more than having cybersecurity tools or an IT team. A successful cyber attack could cost you operational downtime, loss of data, reputational damage, and lost revenue.

Being cyber resilient means knowing what needs to be protected, what risks you face, and having plans for threat detection, response, and most importantly, knowing how to recover as rapidly as possible from cyber incidents.

There will be a panel Q&A session after the presentation where representatives from IT Works, Intelligensia and Crombie Lockwood will be available to answer your questions about:

  • Cyber resilience
  • How to secure your environment to ensure you have the greatest protection
  • How to keep your staff educated and aware of the risk
  • How to ensure you have adequate coverage in the event of a cyber breach.
