Late Night Activities FairThis year, NSO is taking a new approach to late night events by combining elements of PennFest with the late night tradition to create the 3-day Late Night Activities Fair! Student groups are invited to host a table on Locust Walk from 11pm to 1am to meet new students in a centralized location on campus! Registration opens today and will close Thursday, August 1 at 11:59pm. Please note that this is a separate activity from the SAC Fall Activities Fair hosted during the first week of classes. First-Year Experience (FYE) and Second-Year Experience Grants (SYE) (up to $200 each)Deadline to apply for Fall 2019 events is Friday, November 1 at 11:59pm and for Spring 2020 events is Saturday, February 1 at 11:59pm New Student Orientation can be overwhelming for incoming students. A plethora of activities are crammed into six days. Between presentations, FYE Sessions, and the Penn Reading Project, it is easy for the incoming students to forget the things they have learned. That is why NSOAI funds First- AND Second-Year Experiences, a continuing series of events that will take place throughout the academic year. First-Year Experiences are designed to help first-year students become comfortable with their new home and Second-Year Experiences are designed to foster a connection between students and the resources they need at this point in their Penn career. Student, faculty, and departmental groups can apply for First- and Second-Year Experience Grants. Past events have included workshops on self-defense and mixed martial arts, cookouts, and discussions about the current healthcare system. First and Second-Year Experience events are opportunities for you to show the Classes of 2023 and 2022 all that Penn and Philadelphia have to offer throughout the academic year. For more information or to apply, check out the First-Year Experience and Second-Year Experience websites below. Year of Data Grants (up to $500)Deadline to apply for Fall 2019 events is Friday, November 1 at 11:59pm and for Spring 2020 events is Saturday, February 1 at 11:59pm Individual students, student groups, faculty, staff, departments, and centers can apply for Year of Data grants to assist in programming events that relate to the theme in many contexts: science, humanities, social culture and policy, arts, and more. Applications will be evaluated based on the academic quality and innovation of the project as well as its potential to engage and involve the Penn community. We encourage multi-disciplinary and/or collaborative projects between Penn organizations and schools. Project leaders are encouraged to reach out to other schools and departments, especially to share expertise, networking opportunities, and invitation lists. Since these events will be included in emails that we send out to the entire Penn community throughout the school year, this is a perfect way to spark students' interests in a particular area of study. For more information on eligibility, deadlines, submissions and guidelines, please refer to the grant application linked below.
