2022 EQUESTRIAN WA SPORT FUND APPLICATION

  1. All events and activities are to take place during the “Calendar Year” (1 January 2022 – 31 December 2022) and applications must be submitted by 4 March 2022.
  2. Late and incomplete applications will not be accepted.
  3. To be considered, all relevant sections of the application must be completely filled out.
  4. The maximum level of funding available for one event is $2,000 (excluding GST).

On receiving an application at reception@equestrianwa.org.au it will be processed and forwarded to the Chair of the relevant discipline committee.

The discipline committees will review all applications (referenced to the EWASF criteria) for their discipline and rank the applications with a recommendation of successful grant recipients and suggested grant amount. The value of grant recommendation may be less than the funds requested in the application. Sport committees may choose to provide additional funding directly from their funds to supplement a recommended application.

All EWA affiliated clubs and EWA discipline committees are eligible to apply for EWASF grants. The total maximum value of applications recommended by the discipline committees from the EWASF cannot exceed the amount identified as available for each committee in each category.

The recommended applications will be presented to the EWA Board at the 5 April 2022 Board meeting for approval. Each discipline committee will provide list of recommended applicants by 28 March 2022.

NEW EA WAIVER FOR EVENTS AND COACHES FOR 2022

EQUESTRIAN AUSTRALIA HOT WEATHER POLICY

Horses exercising and competing in hot environmental conditions can be affected by heat stress.

When environmental heat conditions are adverse, exercising horses require appropriate cooling measures to safeguard their welfare.

The primary responsibility for the welfare of horses competing and exercising during hot weather lies with the rider of the horse. Riders must always take action to prevent, manage and treat heat stress in their horses.

Event organisers are responsible for providing adequate facilities and information that riders need to safeguard the welfare of horses. Access to ice and cooling water during competition is a compulsory requirement that arises under certain environmental conditions.

Please note:
The General Purpose field is CLOSED due to some grass renovation. Apologies, but this means surrounding arenas may also be closed as it is a safety concern with them using heavy machinery. Thank you for your patience and understanding. Keep an eye on the website and social media for updates.

Just a REMINDER that anyone attending the State Equestrian Centre will be required to sign in via the SafeWA app upon arrival from Saturday, 5 December 2020.

If you don’t have a mobile phone, a manual form will be available.

As always, a big thank you goes to our wonderful coaches, David Cary, Rebecca Thomas, Shaun Dillon and Wendy Barker. Their expertise and support are an invaluable resource for the development of retired racehorses and their riders.

AUSTRALIAN CHAMPIONSHIPS 2021 A RESOUNDING SUCCESS

The postponed 2021 Pryde's Easifeed Australian Jumping Championships wrapped up on Sunday after five days of thrilling competition at the Boneo Park Equestrian Complex on the Mornington Peninsula.

Whilst spectators picnicked ring-side under shady umbrellas or enjoyed the alfresco dining of Arilla Restaurant, the headline class of the show, the Pryde’s EasiFeed Australian Senior Championship got underway.

Queensland combination of Olivia Hamood and her beautiful mare Jane Fonda DVD handled the pressure magnificently to claim the Australian Jumping Senior Title. Second place went to five-time winner Chris Chugg with Cera Cassiago, while another Queensland combination, Sam Overton and Oaks Cassanova rounded off the podium in third...read more

The event, which runs from Wednesday 2nd to Sunday 6th of February 2022, will be the first to trial the implementation of the new NIF Child Safeguarding Policy. La Noir Equestrian Saddleworld Dressage Day is presented by Western Australian Dressage Young Riders Association. The dressage club is designed specifically for riders up to the age of 25 to encourage dressage as a sport and support junior and young riders in their dreams with the very best instruction and small group work.

This dressage day is an annual event for all age groups offering competitor classes from prelim to FEI and participant classes from Prep as well as club classes for our own members. We have a team competition for teams of 4 from schools and EA registered clubs, with lovely prizes and a club competition for our own riders. Plus a hobby horse dressage competition.

We offer lots of wonderful prizes and rosettes to third place, and ribbons in each class for the following age groups: 12 years and under, 13-15 years and 16-21 years. The competition is an interschools qualifier, leader board event and a qualifier for the DWA Invitational later in the year.

COVID-19 UPDATE

Please note that the 2022 WA Interschools Championships will proceed as scheduled unless advised otherwise by the Government and public health authorities. Equestrian WA and the State Equestrian Centre will ensure that all reasonable care is taken into consideration and will adhere to the latest COVID-19 regulations to ensure that the event is safe for all involved.

EVENTING and COMBINED TRAINING – Advice

Interschool competitors may compete in Eventing (WAYER, Brigadoon 1-3 April 2022) and Combined Training (State Interschool Equestrian Championships) and/or any other discipline subject to the rider and horse welfare.

However, if a Rider/Horse combination qualifies for the Australian Interschool Equestrian Championships in both Eventing and Combined Training, under the National Interschool Rules, they must elect to compete in either Eventing or Combined Training, not both.

The 2022 EWA and Saddles Plus Interschool Equestrian State Championship Classes and Participation classes EVENT SCHEDULE has been released.

Entries are now open on Nominate until 11.00 pm on Sunday 20 March 2022.

This year, entries close 5 weeks before the event to enable sufficient time for qualifications to be checked, the draws to be managed, composite teams created and all the administrative work necessary to manage an event of this magnitude. We must advise that NO LATE ENTRIES will be accepted.

Please ensure that you and your parents or guardian read the Event Schedule carefully as some things have changed.

Please also note that merchandise (polo-shirt) must be ordered by 14 March 2022. This is a week before Interschool entries close.  Our manufacturer requires a 4 ½ week turnover time in order to print, cut, sew and deliver their product.  They are very busy at this time of the year as sporting teams gear up. No merchandise will be available for purchase at the event, so please get your order in early via the link here.

A reminder that the Interschool Eventing Competition will be held in conjunction with WAYER, Brigadoon on 1-3 April 2022.  Competitors will need to submit their qualification requirements as part of their entry in accordance with the Qualification document.

Entries will close approximately 10-14 days before the competition. Please keep an eye on the EWA website for information about this and on K Trials.

****PLEASE ENSURE THAT QUALIFICATION CARD IS SUBMITTED WITH YOUR ENTRIES OR IT WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED****
