Well, if you wanted it or not, it is here. Autumn is starting to make herself known. Even with some above average temperatures and rain here in Indiana, we are getting some leaves changing color, some leaves falling, the walnuts falling from my trees in the back yard, and some crisp mornings to feed the heifers. Here in the Heartland the combines are rolling harvesting soybeans and corn – probably the best indicator of the end of summer. For those of you that know me, I have a love/hate relationship with Fall. I love the nice weather, the end of flies and mosquitoes, and the clear, blue skies, but I hate the knowledge that winter is coming and that means more work in caring for the livestock and homestead. With that said, the natural signs are a great indicator that nature and time move on and there is something very reassuring in that knowledge. On a personal level I am reminded this fall that time is ever moving by watching my daughter play her final soccer game of her senior year and prepare her applications for colleges. Time waits for no one, but we should strive to appreciate and use the time we are given. So, what does this have to do with ABVP? Two things came to my mind as I pondered what to write as I sat in front of my computer screen. First, I was thrilled to experience the World Dairy Expo in person at the end of September. While I was there for work, I did get to wander the barns and admire the beautiful cows and appreciate the hard work put into those lovely creatures by a large number of people. What was really fun for me to see though, was live people. I know there are, and will be, hurdles in our path placed by COVID-19 but I am heartened to see people out and trying to lead a somewhat normal life. While vaccinations and masks and caution may become part of our lives, I believe in my heart that by April of 2022 we will be in a place where we can feel good about our ABVP Symposium and that we can see each other in person as we get great veterinary CE. I have no greater wish for 2022! Secondly, from an ABVP perspective, there is no greater way to mark the passage of time than by candidates passing their examinations. I am excited to announce we have 43 brand new Diplomates! While we continue to work on our credentialing process, we continue to welcome new members into our specialty group. There is nothing more satisfying than having new colleagues dedicated to the goal of the demonstration of high-quality veterinary practice, regardless of species. We look forward to officially welcoming our new Diplomates! Time keeps moving and I will try to focus on the positive things that are happening! Hope all of you are doing well and get a chance to get out and enjoy the fall. Visit a pumpkin patch or corn maze if you can. Drink some apple cider. Enjoy the sunrises. Watch the stars on a crisp night. Celebrate the passage of time. Above all else, I hope you and yours stay well at your end of the barn. Jon Welcome New Diplomates!ABVP Private Practitioner Route Psychometrically ValidatedABVP recently asked HumRRO, a company who performs psychometric analyses for companies, to look at our College’s practitioner route. Most of our Diplomates achieved their specialist status using the practitioner route which includes the ABVP style Case Reports, synopsis of veterinary practice, self-report job experience, letters of reference, continuing education, and veterinary diploma. What a whirlwind of almost 3 months learning the ropes, people, and process, and unraveling the kinks! It has been a pleasure to talk and email with (most of) you! I am a big supporter of ABVP and want to do whatever I can to help with the new MOC process. My RVS Vice Chairs have been busy getting feedback to tweak Prolydian for a more intuitive and smoother process. We really appreciate your patience with navigating the new platform and being guinea pigs this year. Please do not hesitate to contact me, or your Vice Chair, if you have any questions. In response to some frequently asked questions, the MOC Handbook has been updated WITH PICTURES! Find it linked below!

Speakers will include ABVP Diplomates Angela Lennox, Brian Speer, Mike Corcoran, James Bogan, Cheryl Greenacre, Brenna Fitzgerald, Scott Echols, J. Jill Heatley, and Greg Lisciandro.
