Coronavirus (COVID-19) | Update for Residents and Families

Dear Resident Family Member,

COVID-19 Update: Residents and Families of Calvary Cessnock

I am writing to inform you that unfortunately three (3) additional positive cases have been identified amongst residents at Calvary Cessnock. The additional COVID positive residents reside in our Windemere household.

This brings the number of positive cases at Calvary Cessnock to five (5) residents. Staff are in contact with the residents’ families and keeping them informed.

I am pleased to let you know that the recent round of testing of residents in Paxton and Elrington households have all returned negative results.

However for the safety of all residents and in line with Public Health Unit advice, the current restrictions remain in place. Elrington and Windermere residents will remain in, and be cared for in their rooms until deemed safe to lift restrictions on their movement about the home.

COVID positive residents are isolating and receiving all care in their rooms.

We are continuing to liaise with the Hunter New England Public Health Unit, and anticipate our next update to you will be early next week or as more information becomes available.

Although restrictions have been lifted for residents in some of the households, the whole site remains closed for general visitation until the Public Health Unit deems it safe to reopen.

As always, visitation exceptions can be made for residents receiving end of life care and for compassionate visits. Please contact the home manager to make arrangements.

Please also contact the home to book a video call with your loved one, or if you have any concerns.

Thank you for your continued support and understanding.

Sincerely,

Sandeep Kandel
General Manager, Aged Care
