We extend our thanks to Minister Amber-Jade Sanderson for her strong support for Healthway’s work in health promotion and preventative health during her tenure. And we look forward to working with the new Ministers to create a healthier WA together. ![]() KIDDO, a Healthway-funded physical literacy program, announces Year 3-6 content is now live! The KIDDO program is designed to help children develop physical literacy, which includes the skills, confidence and motivation to be active for life. The new content aimed at Years 3-6 has been carefully developed through collaboration with educators, schools, stakeholders and researchers. This exciting extension of the program is designed to elevate primary school physical education programs around Australia. It also means the
program can now be adopted as a whole school approach. ![]() New Cancer Council WA campaign empowers young people to break free from vaping Cancer Council WA, with funding from Healthway and Lotterywest, has launched a new Clear the Air campaign, ‘You can break free from vaping’, to help young Western Australians who currently vape in their efforts to quit. The campaign involves young people sharing their stories and experiences on the negative impact vaping had on their health, and the positive impact quitting has had on their lives. People are encouraged to visit the Clear the Air website to access tips to quit, take the ‘Am I addicted’ quiz, and use the quit savings calculator to see how much money they can save by quitting vaping. ![]() ![]() Healthway hosts first research seminar for 2025 To launch our 2025 Research Scholarships & Fellowships we welcomed researchers and health professionals to Healthway to hear about the exciting changes made to our Health Promotion Research Program this year. Guest speakers included Healthway Scholarship recipient Rebecca Sampson, a PhD candidate from Curtin University who presented on her research project exploring the role of friends supporting young people with cancer. Dr. Paula Hooper also presented on her Healthway Fellowship project which led to the development of a tool that assesses the health impacts of how we design and plan our cities. We're looking forward to hosting more seminars and sharing Healthway-funded research outcomes in the future. Keep your eyes peeled for upcoming seminars. ![]() ![]() In late April, the Preventive Health Conference will be held in Canberra. Healthway Executive Director Carina Tan-Van Baren, along with leaders from Health Promotion and Preventive Health Agencies across the country, will participate in a panel discussion on the priorities and challenges for the year ahead. Our Program Manager Sport and Racing, Shannon Wright, will deliver two presentations on Healthway’s sport partnership approaches. These presentations will highlight the importance of Healthway's Co-Supporters Policy in sport partnerships and driving systemic change to build healthy food environments in sport. You don’t want to miss this! ![]() Cancer Council WA, through the Clear the Air program, is hosting a series of professional development events which aim to support professionals working with young people in youth, community and health services. Participants will gain the tools they need to have confident conversations with young people who vape and assist them on their journey to quit. ![]() ![]()
