Merger set to benefit WA community

Healthway and Lotterywest have now come together under the leadership of dual CEO Susan Hunt PSM. Charged with optimising grant giving for the benefit of the Western Australian community, Ms Hunt said at their core both organisations are committed to enhancing the quality of life and wellbeing of all Western Australians.

For those of you who don't know, last financial year Healthway distributed $18.7 million through its grants and sponsorship program while Lotterywest distributed more than $265 million to the State's hospitals, arts and cultural organisations, sporting associations and thousands of not-for-profit organisations. Funding to help expand an education program

Sexual Health Quarters has received a Healthway grant of more than $500,000 to help expand and update Mooditj, an education program for Aboriginal young people. Read more.

Keeping Western Australians sun safe

Cancer Council WA and the Telethon Kids Institute received Healthway funding to help with the education and promotion of sun safety to reduce the incidence of skin cancer. Read the Minister's media statement and more in the Western Suburbs Weekly.

Local governments recognised

The annual Children's Environment and Health Local Government Policy Awards celebrate local governments that demonstrate outstanding commitment to building healthy environments for children. Find out more about this Healthway funded initiative.

Swim for Fruit a big success

Swim for Fruit encourages children to participate in aquatic physical activity ending with healthy afternoon or morning tea. This Healthway sponsored initiative has taken off in a remote Aboriginal community. Find out more.

Increasing healthy behaviours in sport

Find out how Hockey WA, Basketball WA and Swimming WA are increasing healthy behaviours in their clubs across the state.

Applications for $5,000-$50,000 Sport, Arts and Community Event Sponsorships, which are aligned to a financial year, are due by 12 noon Tuesday, 27 February. Apply now.
