We've seen a surge in people enjoying the great outdoors recently. Families and adventurers have enjoyed prospecting for gold along the creek beds, with many returning to the centre to show us treasures they have found. As the summer heat climbs, we've also been delighted to guide visitors to our region's refreshing swimming spots, helping everyone beat the heat in true Yack style.

Now I See Colour - Music Video Screening and Discussion

Experience the premiere screening of "Now I See Colour," a powerful Pride music video featuring local singer-songwriter Mieke Bosland's original song "Black and White." This collaborative art piece brings together LGBTIQA+ community members from across Indigo Shire and neighbouring regions, celebrating diversity while addressing important social issues.

Following the screening, engage with the creators and cast in a panel discussion while enjoying light refreshments.

As the final week of the school holidays wraps up in Beechworth, the town has been buzzing with activity. Families have flocked to Lake Sambell to make the most of the sunny weather, enjoying picnics, leisurely walks and fun-filled days by the water. The lake has been a popular spot for both locals and visitors, with kids swimming and playing while parents relax under the shade of trees. In addition, Beechworth Honey's Bee School has been a hit with people of all ages, drawing both the young and young-at-heart to learn more about the fascinating world of beekeeping. 

Looking ahead, Spring Ditch Festival is approaching fast. This reimagined celebration pays homage to the beloved Stanley New Year's Day Sports while bringing its own contemporary flair. The Smith & Western Jury is a Melbourne/Naarm-based four-piece, currently showcasing their unmistakable sound via The Devil Knows Where I Sleep Summer Tour 2025.

The tour follows their recently released debut album, Hotel Texas, which was named ABC Country's Album of the Week. Blending Americana and traditional country influences, Hotel Texas has received widespread praise for its raw authenticity and heartfelt emotion.

Supporting them in Beechworth will be Hana & Jessie-Lee’s Bad Habits. Entry is free. 

Spring Ditch

Spring Ditch is a perfect day of family fun, food and music with friends, nestled in the shade of regal gum trees. 

Musical guests this year are afrobeat all-stars Afrobiotics, the dreamy psych vibes of Magic Bean Guillotine, rollicking rock and bad ass blues with Minnie & The Moonrakers, high energy dynamos Lucey and young and powerful local singer-songwriter Samara Bright. Legendary local party engineer DJ Jane Doe will also be spinning the decks, and silver-tongued MC John Walker will keep everyone up to date and entertained. 

A huge range of old school events and activities are on offer for the whole family, including Kid’s Olympics, Highland Games, Wellbeing, Chainsaw Art, Cricket and Tennis, Arts and Craft, Competitions, Memorabilia, Roving Performer Tully and so much more. 

A shuttle bus from Beechworth to Stanley and back will run regularly throughout the day.

Old Beechworth Gaol Night Tours

Step into the shadows at Old Beechworth Gaol this January with guided Night Tours every Wednesday and Saturday. For one atmospheric hour, explore the historic prison's corridors and cells, where stories of tragedy, rebellion, and redemption echo through its imposing stone walls.

Victorian Wine Strategy - Have your say

The Victorian Government and the Victorian wine industry are co-designing the new Victorian Wine Strategy, and are seeking public consultation from all wine industry stakeholders to ensure the comprehensive strategy strengthens the wine sector, creates jobs and drives economic growth.

The survey closes on 31 January 2025.
