Natasha Fyles Paul Kirby Media Release Laksa Festival returns25 September 2022 The Top End’s Laksa Festival is back for a fourth year. It will once again celebrate our multicultural community, our awesome weather and one of our favourite pastimes – eating amazing laksas. Beginning on 31 October with a month long food tour, the festival encourages the community to try as many laksa dishes as possible throughout the month, before voting for their favourite dish. Restaurants, eateries or stallholders can register to be part of the Laksa Festival, with the month-long festival including a Laksa Food Tour for laksa lovers to vote on their favourite laksa and laksa-inspired dishes. The Festival culminates on Sunday 27 November with Darwin’s best laksa restaurants, market vendors, eateries and the community uniting for a Grand Finale Festival Day to celebrate everything laksa. Businesses can register to be part of the Food Tour & Festival at: www.darwinlaksafestival.com.au Quotes attributable to Chief Minister Natasha Fyles: “The Laksa Festival not only supports local business it encourages Territorians to continue visiting our CBD. “This festival is about the food – but it’s also all about supporting jobs, and choosing to buy local.” Quotes attributable to Minister for Business, Jobs and Training, Paul Kirby: “This year’s Food Tour is expected to include more businesses than last year and we encourage all food businesses to think outside the box and consider how they can incorporate a laksa or laksa-inspired dish into their menu. “I encourage all business to have a go in this year’s laska festival and even if you don’t traditionally sell a Laksa, there’s plenty of scope to be creative and add something to your menu for a month.” Northern Territory Government |
