From PFC

Since our last edition...

  • Last month, in preparation for our 2026 PFC National Conference to take place in Winnipeg/Treaty 1 Territory in a year’s time, we held our team retreat on site. On September 30, National Day of Truth and Reconciliation, we experienced a most memorable and moving program, as we joined thousands of First Nations community members and other Manitobans participating in a Healing Walk and a Pow Wow honouring the survivors of the residential school system. We also met with local PFC members, partners and leaders who will make up our conference host committee, discussing exciting programming possibilities.

  • Jean-Marc Mangin, our President and CEO and Sara Krynitzki, our Associate CEO, joined several PFC members and other sector colleagues at the 2025 Imagine Canada Leadership Roundtable in Ottawa, to discuss our sector’s opportunities and challenges in these uncertain times.

Navigating Family Dynamics and
Managing Public/Community Expectations

Speaker: Mike Prosserman, Board Chair, Acorn Seed Foundation

Family foundations strike a balance between personal relationships and public responsibility. As organizations grow, challenges emerge in defining values that honour family legacy and respond to community needs.

This session explores ways to engage family members, set boundaries, and create expectations for both internal cohesion and external accountability. It will also discuss preparing those working with community partners—especially through anti-racism and bias training—for equitable interactions. Attendees can reflect, share, and learn about legacy, power-sharing, and public engagement.
