Good morning, Michigan families! Day #4 of 10 in our family worship idea on obedience: Review - Definition of obedience. Obedience is willingly, promptly, and cheerfully doing whatever an authority asks. Another word for obedience is submission.
- "How have you been doing with obedience (cheerfulness, willingness, promptness)?"
- "Do you have any victories to tell?"
Read - "Over the next few days we'll be learning about Jesus and how He obeyed."
- Luke 2:41-52
Discuss - "Can you summarize this story in your own words?"
- "Was Jesus obeying His Heavenly Father by being in the temple?" (yes)
- "Had Jesus done anything wrong?" (no)
- "How did Jesus respond when his parents wanted Him to come back to Nazareth with them?" "Did He talk back?"
- "Sometimes people might misunderstand and think you are doing something wrong when you're really not. It is important to not talk back. It might be all right to politely explain yourself, but you may not always have the opportunity. Remember that God knows your heart and He can take care of the situation for you."
- "What was the fruit of Jesus' obedience?" (verse 52)
- Read the following Bible verses and discuss how they relate to obedience.
- Philippians 4:13
- Luke 22:42b ...not my will, but thine be done.
Pray - Pray
for the ability to be subject to parents.
Scripture Song - Practice “The Steps of a Good Man." Psalm 37:23, 24
