Latest update: Calvary Mt Carmel 

I am writing to let you know that the latest round of PCR testing for Mt Carmel residents has been completed and we are now waiting on the test results. Given the ongoing demand for community testing, we are unable to confirm a timeframe for when we will receive all results.

As the latest results come to hand, we will continue to liaise closely with the Hunter New England Public Health Unit regarding the next steps, testing regime and when it is safe to lift the current restrictions on residents’ movement or re-open the home.

In the meantime, Calvary Mt Carmel remains closed for general visitation except for end of life and compassionate visits. Please talk with the home manager to make specific arrangements.

The residents are being cared for in their rooms and closely monitored for any symptoms. We understand that this is a difficult time for our residents and families, and we thank you for your continued support.

Please contact the home if you wish to book a video call with your loved one via our video call service or if you have any concerns.

We anticipate our next update to residents and families will be on Friday, 14 January, unless there are any changes that need to be communicated before then.

We kindly request that you limit your contact with the home due to the increased workload and while staff are focused on caring for the residents.
