Hosted by the Centre for Indigenous Support and Community Engagement, this learning certificate discusses anti-Indigenous racism found in Canada and educational institutions, as well as student supports and how to practice allyship and rightful relations. Important Announcement Re: President Benoit-Antoine Bacon After five years at Carleton, President and Vice-Chancellor Benoit-Antoine Bacon has announced that he will be leaving in the fall of 2023 to take on the presidency of the University of British Columbia (UBC). Dr. Bacon will complete his last day as President of Carleton on August 31, 2023, and will formally assume his new role at UBC on November 1, 2023. On September 1, 2023, Dr. Jerry Tomberlin, who has been serving as Carleton’s Provost and Vice-President (Academic) since 2017, will begin serving as Interim President and Vice-Chancellor in order to ensure Carleton maintains its great momentum into the 2023-24 academic year. Elevator Outages on Campus There is reduced elevator availability in some buildings on campus due to repairs. All affected buildings have at least one alternate elevator in service. Any questions about accessibility can be directed to the Facilities Management and Planning (FMP) service centre at 613-520-3668. Reminder: Colonel By Drive Road Closures Colonel By Drive is being repaved from Hog’s Back Road to Bronson Avenue until Friday, August 4, 2023. Lane reductions are in effect during the day, and Colonel By Drive is closed nightly from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m., Sunday to Friday. The roadway is open on weekends. Using the Bronson Avenue entrance to access campus is recommended during this work.
