Solar Eclipse Today

Ottawa is expected to experience a partial solar eclipse today (Monday, April 8, 2024).

As the eclipse will not be total in Ottawa, there is no safe time to look at the sun without appropriate eye protection. If the eclipse is viewed directly without appropriate eye protection, the resulting exposure can damage the eye. For more information on protecting yourself, visit the Environmental Health and Safety solar eclipse safety page or review tips from Ottawa Public Health.
