Our Next Meeting
Barnet VCFSE Environmental Network

Thursday 17 February, 10.30 - 12noon

If you've already been to a Barnet VCFSE Environmental Network meeting then you'll automatically receive an invite and zoom link for our 12th on 17 February.

If you've not joined us yet, then do email Ellen. These are informal and informative networking sessions for those working in the Barnet Voluntary, Community, Faith & Social Enterprise (VCFSE) sector, where we can come together to discuss environmental issues in the Borough, and work out how we as a sector can make a difference.

This networking group will raise awareness of environmental projects that are happening in the Borough, help to establish partnerships and joint initiatives and seek funding opportunities.

At February's meeting we will be joined by Sarah Fecunda, Member Pioneer from the Co-op who will be updating us on Co-op's environmental work and funding.

If you have any topics you would like to raise/discuss at future meetings, do let Ellen know.

Apply Now for Ward Funding

Barnet's three Area Committees have £400,000 each per year to fund community requests. The funding can cover a wide range of infrastructure projects for communities. Recent examples include: restoration of community centres and park pavilions, new play equipment in parks and schools and the creation of tree trails and parks projects.

If you have an idea, you should initially raise this with your ward councillor who can then propose it for funding through the appropriate Area Committee. Note: Each councillor can only take one request per each meeting.

The dates for the next three Area Committees are:

  • Chipping Barnet: 9th March
  • Hendon: 22nd March
  • Finchley & Golders Green: 31st March

Do have a look at the previous applications to the committees and which ones were approved.

For more information contact Graeme Clayton, Community Infrastructure Coordinator.

Don't forget! From 5 May 2022 the new ward boundaries come into effect >>

DID YOU KNOW >> That as part of the current Barnet Together training programme on Fundraising, the session on Wednesday 6 April will be dedicated to Barnet-focused funding opportunities and where to gather insights and intelligence to support your applications. More information and to book.

Two Litter picks planned this weekend

Daniel and Paul are organising a litter pick at the site of the new Tiny Forest this Sunday, Feb 6th, at 1430 (ahead of the planting on 24th Feb). If you have litter picks, bring them. Otherwise they'll provide.  More information.

Barnet Residents Association are hosting a community litter pick on Saturday 5th February from 10am to 2pm to help make Barnet the best place to live, work and shop. Free equipment available from their stall in The Spires. Do swing by early as supplies are limited.
