Coronavirus (COVID-19) | Update for Residents and Families

Dear Resident, Family Member and Staff,

Calvary Lower Plenty Gardens reopening to visitors

I am pleased to advise that after discussion with the local Public Health Unit (PHU), Lower Plenty Gardens is open to visitors from today, Monday 17 January 2022.

Of the remaining residents who tested positive, (9) residents are currently active who will be cared for in their room until cleared; and (3) residents are cleared.

As a result, the PHU has advised that the restrictions at the home can be lifted and that residents can move freely within the home effective today.

Lilac Unit are free of any COVID positive residents.

If your loved one resides in Lavender Unit and you would prefer your loved one to remain in their room until all the COVID positive cases are cleared then please contact the Nurse in charge at Lower Plenty Gardens on 03 9430 2400.

Are visitors allowed?

In line with Calvary’s recent visitor update of 29 December 2021, one single nominated visitor only will be permitted per resident during the home’s visiting hours. This is due to the continuing heightened risk of infection and will be in place until further notice.

Each family should nominate the visitor and notify the home manager of who this person is. The visitor is strongly encouraged to have obtained a booster vaccine if they are eligible.
Visitors will be required to wear an N95 Mask provided by the home.

Visitation exceptions may be made for residents receiving end of life care, residents who may be experiencing distress, or where a special care and support role is provided. Please speak with the home manager to discuss arrangements.

What happens now?

Our staff will continue to closely monitor all residents for symptoms of COVID-19.

Designated visitors will may be required to have a rapid antigen test (RAT test) before entering the home.

Thank you to our residents for your cooperation during this recent exposure period. To our families, we are grateful that you continue to work with us so generously to ensure the safety of your loved ones in our care, and look forward to receiving visitors back into the home.

Sincerely,

Sharon MartindaleGeneral Manager Aged Care
