Restoration Update | Calvary Cordelia Grove, Anglesea

Dear Families and Representatives,

I am writing to give you an  update on the remediation and repairs to Calvary Cordelia Grove home, following the severe weather event on Friday 28 January 2022. The event resulted in significant flooding and damage to communal areas and resident rooms and the evacuation of 48 residents to our sister sites at Calvary Elouera in Torquay, Calvary Balmoral Grove in Grovedale and Calvary Roccoco in Geelong.

Our priority since this weather event has been to ensure the safety of all residents and have them return to Cordelia Grove at the earliest opportunity.

As mentioned in our last update, this week all contents have been removed from the site to enable progress of the assessment of each area and remediation works. Thank you to family members who have attended the site to collect any resident items; or alternatively have elected to have the items safely stored in the interim.

The insurers have commenced a methodical assessment of each area of the home, to estimate the level of repairs and time required to restore the home back to operational capacity.

We anticipate the assessment will take several weeks. Once the assessment is completed and we know the level of repairs and time required for each area to be remediated, we will be able to confirm when residents may return to the home.

We understand that the past two weeks has been an unsettling time for residents and we appreciate your patience and understanding during this period.

We also would like to take this opportunity to thank the families of residents for their help, support and co-operation at this difficult time.

Mary Foxall, Calvary Cordelia Grove Home Manager, will continue to keep you informed of progress as changes develop, and as soon as the assessments are completed.

If you do have any queries in the meantime please do not hesitate to contact the relevant Home if it relates to clinical care.

For remediation/restoration works in progress queries, please do not hesitate to contact Mary Foxall by replying to this email.

We thank you all for your understanding and patience.

Sincerely,

Sherryn McMahonGeneral Manager Aged Care
