Work continues at multiple sites on Kenepuru Road between Linkwater and the Heads At three adjacent sites approximately 3km before the Mahau Road turn-off, this week crews are completing pavement construction. At a fourth site approximately 3.5km prior to the Mahau Road turnoff progress is continuing on a retaining wall and culvert installation. On Kenepuru Road, between the Mahau Road intersection and Te Mahia Bay, crews are working across three work sites, to complete a road retreat, rail iron retaining wall, and a culvert replacement. A construction closure incorporating these work sites is in place on Kenepuru Road between property numbers 955 and 2067 until Friday 19 December 2025. This closure is allowing multiple road improvements to be completed concurrently and safely. The closures are in place on the below days/times:
On Kenepuru Road, near Portage Bay, approximately 1.5km prior to Portage Resort when travelling towards the Heads, work is progressing under a construction closure. Excavation and gully backfill is underway, and crews are now installing new drainage. This construction closure is also in place until Friday 19 December on the same days and times as the previous Kenepuru Road closure, as follows:
At the midday opening, as long as vehicles are at their nearest closure point by 12.30pm, crews will ensure traffic does not get stuck between these two closures on Kenepuru Road. This applies whether vehicles are travelling from Linkwater to the Heads or from the Heads to Linkwater. Please note that residents between the closure points will not be permitted through closure gates until the lunchtime opening. This is an important safety measure due to the multiple work sites in operation and truck deliveries between these sites throughout the day. --------------------------------------------------- Work on Te Mahia Road continues under a construction closure until mid-December. This week crews are commencing the pavement construction. The closures are scheduled on weekdays at the following times:
--------------------------------------------------- Work is progressing on Torea Road under a construction closure, to complete a road retreat, drainage improvements and a retaining wall. This week crews are installing a culvert. The construction closure is in place until Friday 19 December 2025:
--------------------------------------------------- Beyond these closures times, please expect delays of up to 15 minutes as work continues under stop/go traffic management. --------------------------------------------------- On Kenepuru Road beyond the Heads, crews continue shoulder support and excavation work near Mills Bay, under stop/go traffic management with up to 15-minute delays. --------------------------------------------------- On Monday 8 December, crews will commence minor work on Titirangi Road under residents-access only. Crews are working from the Northern end of the road, closest to Titirangi Beach back to Kenepuru Heads. The road will be closed to non-residents from 8am to 5pm, Monday to Friday. Residents should expect delays of up to 15 minutes during the closure times. --------------------------------------------------- Work is progressing to replace the Waitaria Bay jetty. The existing gravel boat ramp is closed to users until the end of January 2026. ---------------------------------------------------
